Just bought EP7...

Went into the city today and listened to a few discs:

Plaid - Rest Proof Clockwork
Cylobotnia
Incunubula
and EP7

Finally decided to get EP7 because it was suprisingly cheap
for a full length (i know it's supposed to be an EP,
but it really isn't imo), and with my luck next time I would
specifically travel out to get it, it wouldn't be there....

Anyway, I only own a few ae:
Tri Repetae (single disc version unfortunately)
Chiastic Slide
and Peel Sessions 2.

I've been listening to it today, and am listening right now.
I consider myself lucky to get the UK release with the
hidden track and frosted case but did I waste my money?

Hmm, I'm not really sure. I'll give it a chance, but I'm not
familiar with the newer ae and it all sounds so....random.

I don't know. What are your thoughts on EP7?

Yeah, at the moment tracks 1, 2 and 8 are sounding
great....

That timpani sounds awesome in trk 8!

:)

best song: #9- Zeiss Contarex... there's this sinister dark
melody that kicks in at around 4:20, it's awsome.

The key to ep7 and all of autechre's work is attention to
detial... see the sounds in your head and watch them
backtrack and jitter and all the neat little tricks AE do
with their sound... listen to the detials.

It's a great cd but the hidden track kinda sux imo :-/

Whoa! Creepy avatar, wolf!

Yeah, it's weird...my discman can play the hidden track, but
my hi-fi in my room won't, and neither will the one in our
lounge room!

Hmm....haven't heard the track even...

it's just poopy high pitch tones and lot's of silence... it
gets better toward the end but it's nothing special

Actually, on each listen it is getting clearer and clearer,
more organised sounding...

This may grow on me after all!

:)

Outpt and Dropp are both top class.

try to listen to it on good headphones- only then you will
be able to see/hear details - and they are really core of
this album

EP7 is really tame compared to Confield/Draft. Just a
warning

I'll bet it is, haha!

I actually went against my follow-autechre-chronologically
policy by buying ep7, but it was because I can't find LP5
anywhere over here....

I'll get it soon, and then make my way up to confield and
draft.

Confield is pretty easy... after my first listen I threw it
down on the ground, stomped on it a few times and said "TOO
EASY!!!!"

Seriously I did... see, I'm hardcore!

Funkmaster:
Uh-huh, yep sure....

We know that you really went running to your mommy in her
isolated forest-cabin!

:)

If you don't get into EP7 don't let it put you off getting
other AE releases. Ashamed to say it but I only got EP7 for
completion's sake and its probably my favourite CD cover and
it was cheap- all v. poor reasons for buying a piece of
music but I'm learning to forgive myself one day at a time.

actually, as i said it's getting better and better each
listen. I'm going to make a cuppa tea, head off to bed and
listen in the dark with a pair of good headphones...

thanks for the advice, btw...i can't wait to get LP5
soon....
