for some reason, ie will no longer trigger pop-up links.
in other words.. if i want to click a link that's supposed
to be launched in a new window - it doesnt happen.
which is annoying cos it means i can't access some sites
now.
i realise this isnt exactly the forum for this sort of
thing, but can anyone help? its pretty frustrating.

I was trying to figure out why it would be happening.

How about if you hold down Ctrl and press N does it spawn a
new window?

IE shits on Mozilla...it's just the biased anti Microsoft
brigade who reckon it is better.

IE Rocks.

EVeryone has diff preferences.

but im a pretty high end fucking user and IE + google
toolbar does everything i need it to.

ppl who are thrashing IE just for the hell of it are
obviously are negatively MS biased.

You could listen to ecnadniarb and elusive. Or you
could try mozilla and judge for yourself.

IE hasn't gotten _me_ into any trouble.

Albeit, it does have it's flaws, I just love the small
footprint and speed.

hehe, how would you ever know?
know what I mean, hehe.

I mean, when MS has to issue security updates for their

ringing.

Besides, IE is a kind of spyware, in the sense that the IE
generates a file called index.dat which keeps track of all
your browsing habits regardless of whether or not you delete
your temporary internetfiles, cookies and cache. This
.dat-file is always maintained and updated as you browse.
Another thing is that this file is impossible to delete or
edit. Not that you'd have anything to hide, but the mere
thought of this file is alarming in itself.

The only way to edit it, is to use a hexadecimal editor (hex
editor) and manually edit each and every bit in the file,
which usually contains well over millions of encrypted
characthers.

Ever seen this path: C:\Documents and
Settings\yourNTusername\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\content.IE5 - this is where the index.dat file
resides, and this whole directory is a hidden extension of
the regular temporary internet files which are NEVER
deleted. You may do so manually, but then you'd have to know
that it exists. The foldernames are generated randomly, and
if you delete them, new ones are generated instantly.

Try watching the contents of these folders as you delete
your cookies, cache and temp files within IE's internet
options. Nothing happens.

Why?

I couldn't live without tabbed multiple page browsing,
middle click to open a link in a new tab, mouse gestures,
integrated google search and popup blocking. Most of the
utilities that claim to add popup blocking to IE are
actually spyware and virus conduits.

Other bonuses: you can choose the path for your Mozilla
profile (cookies/cache/history) so I keep mine on an
encrypted partition - if my computer gets stolen the thieves
don't get my online banking history and cached Yahoo email
pages...

Lessee, what else is cool about it - your bookmarks are
stored in one sensible html file instead of bazillions of
little shortcut files, there's a ratio of like at least 100
to one between IE and Mozilla security alerts, Mozilla
almost never crashes and when it does it doesn't take down
the whole OS with it, Mozilla won't run ActiveX controls
(hurrah!).

Mozilla unlike IE is being actively developed - Microsoft
stopped adding features and fixing things in IE when they
decided they'd won the browser wars, and now they only fix
the most egregious security flaws whenever they feel like
getting around to it.

I dunno, I feel like I'm telling people "Please, stop
drinking battery acid and drink this delicious milkshake
instead"

i d/loaded mozilla.. running it now.
but the problem still exists in relation to msn messenger.
can't launch my email inbox from the link in msngr.. i guess
because ms tied the program to ie.. any ideas on how to
rectify this?

Yeah I bet messenger uses the html rendering engine from IE
- try going into control panel, internet options, programs,
and make sure you have your email client selected.
