There will be a DVD :-))))) More Rubber Johnny Madness To Come Posted by Joyrex on 11.12.03 setanor once again comes though with news from Variety.com that Chris Cunnigham has been working for three years now on a "DVD Concept Album" with musicians (Aphex & Squarepusher among them) and the first "single" will be "Rubber Johnny", which a short bit of was used as a promotional clip for Aphex Twin's 2001 album, Drukqs. The trailer was used before as a promotional tool for Aphex Twin's Drukqs album. Rubber Johnny, according to Variety, will be released as a DVD single by Warp Films. It has been sold to the Sundance Channel in the U.S. Chris also wishes to expand it into its own 10-part TV series. The only story detail: It is about a kid with a mean dog, shot in the style of an underground comic. |

and this: DVD Album : We'll update you on what we think Chris is working mostly on now: the DVD album for Warp Films. From RES Sept/Oct 2002, Chris says: "I'm making a DVD album for Warp of film and music. There are going to be around eight pieces. Three are collaborations with Aphex Twin and Squarepusher." The rest of the music on it will be Chris' own works. The project's producer is Mark Herbert. The album will possibly include: - Spectral Musicians - a short film commissioned August 2001. - Rubber Johnny - see above - assistance from one freelance animator named Angie Taylor. She has produced work for a broad range of clients including the BBC and Channel 4 television, and published a book called Creative After Effects 5. (Warp Films got some of its financial bearings for its projects via a £150,000 NESTA award.) |
