Has anyone here (fsol fans or not) heard the recent
drum'n'bass mix of papua new guinea by fsol on vinyl?

I was listening to it today in the shop today, really
sounded great. Anyone heard it?

I liked the andrew weatherwell mix. I think tunes like that
are "of their time" and should not be updated. It's a bit
like that fucking fatboy slim remix of Sympathy for the
Devil. Classics should not be touched and papua new guinea
is a classic.

I have a CD with around 13 different mixes. it gets tiresome
after a while but some are really good.

The album was called Accelerator and there was a 2nd CD with
it.

Agreed. People should put their energies into re-working
classic rock tracks intead. It is far more fruitful a
pursuit. Take the Lost Brothers reworking of Cry Little
Sister by Gerard McMann for example.

scissor sisters...

Its a classic track from a classic film. How much more
classic do you want? A classic track from a classic film
based on a classic book?

I'm really not sure, Alberto. There was no proper sleeve for
the vinyl, just the usual white sleeving with the hole, and
a blank white circle in the middle.

I helped unpack it from the shipment - I'm doing work
experience there :)

It was labelled just as FSOL - Papua New Guinea drum'n'bass
mix

or something similar.

High Contrast is from my home town of Penarth, near Cardiff.
His dad is Shakin' Stevens' cousin.

I nearly bought this online, but couldn't find mp3 samples
anywhere so resisted.
If I come across it again, I'll buy it though.

Jonesy: Didn't know that about High Contrast... at last, a
welsh musician other than Lustmord that I really like.

Ooooooooooooooh, another Papua remix.
Actually, the High Contrast one has been around for a while,
and was constructed from recreated samples, not from the
original. I think the samples will be on Soulseek (they used
to be on my site but I ran out of webspace).

There's another one going around, by Nu-Tone, or something,
I think. There's also one called Papua Has A Brand New
Guinea, too.
Bleh. I have, with fan mixes and such, about 50 versions of
the track. I only actually like about five of them.
