Is it Valid ?

Or Is it not ?

If it is , then why ?

If it's not , then why ?

I want answers .

ded zero from kenosha wi on 2001-04-24 12:43 [#00004400]

mtv has created another reality where anything it puts on as
the 'newest artist' will sell indefinatly no questions
asked. this effect is achieved because the mtv audience have
been turned into mindless zombies that instead of eating
people, they buy whatever mtv tells them too.

Gary from a giants ear on 2001-04-24 16:31 [#00004431]

mtv play music for people that dont
like music ,but there is some great pop bands out there, the
super furry animals
are a smashin band, the ramones, god
bless joey, made some great pop too.
its out there ya just gotta sift through
aload of steamin poo before you get to it.

po{e} from the uk on 2001-04-24 21:33 [#00004463]

see the thread 'music today', that has most peoples opinions
and stuff on it

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-24 21:41 [#00004468]

ded zero: well I totally agree with you, once I actually got
enough courage to stick it to the man! I emailed MUC MUSIC
[canadian version of MTV with more music] and it as well
creates a platinum artist once they are shown across the
land.. and even In the states... its sickening. And al these
yuppie ass fucks lap it up like some midless animal drinking
outta their masters bowl. FUCK!. I emailed one of the top
people that work there.. [don't ask how I got his email] and
we had "email" argued many time.. it went nowhere.. but It
made me feel good. This was what.. like 3 years ago.

ded zero from kenosha wi on 2001-04-24 21:48 [#00004473]

the only thing remotely good is MTV2, where they actually
play music! remember what thats like kids? ah, but anyway on
there little art-ish commercials i heard Flim playing. thats
all i can give them credit for. at least someone down in the
MTV2 studios knows where its at.

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-24 21:53 [#00004476]

ded zero: well ya.. I mean we have MUCH MUSIC 2... and its
called mUCH MORE MUSIC.. and its pretty much the same
thing.. but they play more contemporary shit.. id much
rather watch that.. although I feel ashamed.. than like the
noraml POP filled glossed plastic wrapped crap thew spew out
for stupid kids to lap up

po{e} from the uk on 2001-04-25 20:10 [#00004613]

the 'alternative' music channel in the uk (mtv2) is full of
american boy band shite...(cock roach..limp biscuit..Linkoln
Crap etc), i have heard 2 aphex tracks on it so far...which
sucks big time...

(the embarrasing thing is that on 'artists choose', it was
linkon parks choice...and one of them chosse WINDOW
LICKER!!!!)

Joyeboy from California on 2001-04-25 20:38 [#00004620]

YES, the Super Furry Animals are great!!!

Joyeboy from California on 2001-04-25 20:41 [#00004621]

Oh yeah, the other day on MTV2 (in the US), they played
"On". Of course, they listed the release it was from as
"Selected Ambient Works II", go figure...

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-25 21:51 [#00004627]

FUCKING STUPID MTV/MUCH MUSIC!!!!!! I hATE'EM!

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-04-25 21:54 [#00004628]

hear, hear.
corporate whores.

clobeSmith from um ... here on 2001-04-25 22:02 [#00004629]

that corporate tool carson daily said something like, hey if
these boy bands are making all these 13 year old girls
happy, then who cares? yeah, i can see where he's getting
at, but damn, i really hate that crap. nothing will compare
to that feeling of let down that your favorite back street
boy is a major drug fiend and set some hotel room on fire
while the new album is being bought by ever trl groupie.
hmm ... that felt good in a limited sort of way.

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-25 22:12 [#00004630]

Oh boy! I remember that shit.. wasn't he also caught with
some coke?

Netlon Sentinel from beyond on 2001-04-25 22:13 [#00004631]

the music scene is never going to be the way it used to be.
it's all about making money these days. that's never going
to change, unless the world economy collapses or something
and money will have to be spent on more important things.
that's why small labels such as rephlex are so important.
they offer a chance for beginning bands and hope for music
lovers everywhere.

does this make sense?

ska from seattle wa usa on 2001-04-25 23:25 [#00004642]

i don't even have cable t.v.
and i don't listen to the radio.
pop music is a product.
when you hear it think to your self,
is this music that people listen to?
or just music that people wear?
the best thing to do with this boyband bubble gum pop shite
is to sample the hell out of it and twist it into something

cool.
i heard this seattle dude, "plastiq phantom" who took a
destiny's child song i think it was and rape it into the
hardcore-est noise break thrash song i have ever heard.
eat that, pop music!

Gary from From in side The MTV building, London on 2001-04-25 23:54 [#00004649]

Well it's offical MTV are shit ....
Now lets nuke the fuckers :>

[REFLEX] from Canada on 2001-04-26 00:09 [#00004652]

Ill nuke'm all !!

hAnkyPhexTwin from Tucson, AZ on 2001-04-26 01:31 [#00004665]

The only good thing for me about MTV was that, it introduced
me to Aphex Twin. I had no recollection of who Aphex Twin
was.

I woke up and turned on the TV watching those late
alternative videos (I think they were called AMP or
something like that) while getting ready for school in the
wee morning. Then Come To Daddy came on, that freakish
video I fell in love with right then, along with the music.
Though that was the last time I have ever seen Come To Daddy
played in it's entirety.
