That Water Effect he Does

Steve from UK on 2001-11-28 16:56 [#00056482]

On Windowlicker, half way is really neat. How would one
achieve the same effect? It's where it sounds like the songs
being played underwater, it goes all bubbly.

That is cool. But I don't know.

But it's DAMN cool!

this effect is not hard if you use a highpass and a lowpass
filter tweaked specially, also a vocoder can do this.

Yeah, maybe a flanger too? I was also wondering about the
part where the first bar pitches down, down, down, down, up,
up, down, flat. Is there some special Aphex Twin effect
about this section (like some hidden thing) or is it purely
the song pitching down?

That sound is made with a program called Meta Synth by U&I.

meta synth is awsome.

I know I'm kinda digging up old bones here, but since I have
still not found a decent water effect thing (well, noise
reduction kinda works, but its more metally than water) and
I also dont have a mac, so I cant use meta synth or
whatever. Is there an alternative?

in sounic foundry sound forge you can get this with their
chorus fx. play with the sliders, and the chorus type. it's
real easy to get.

you can also try (same program) distortion preset="wet slew"
and play with the slider on that.

hope this helps

Yea, just fuck around with the settings until you get the
desired sound. I do know the effect you want though. Just
have no definate way of getting it.

Wardale, there isnt a program, buy a Mac instead, they kick
ass.
