DVD drives are allergic to semen.

Or at least mine, anyway.

There is region-free software out there... do a Google
search.

Depends on your drive. Some drives can be set region free
for life using software... others... like... MINE.... can't
be cracked. Bastard. Fuck-ing-bas-tard.

If your DVD drive is region locked I don't think there's any
software that can go around that. The only way you can open
the lock is to update your drive's firmware if an update is
available.

Software shouldn't be a problem. I use Linux with
xine/mplayer and neither of them give a shit about region
codes.

Actually the MPAA has now decided that it's alright to
throw people in jail if they have movies shared on their
computer.

:)

There's a program called DVD Region Free that work in
tricking region-locked drives but is a rip off at about 30
quid - just download it for free using bit torrent instead
;-)

all the more reason to learn to hack.

firmware
software
hardware

your lmitation lies in one or more of those three, and even
patching the hardware is possible without too much technical
ability. it's mostly connecting two pins or jumping on the
drive a few times

i've downloaded a program that can change the firmware on
the drive, but i'm not gonna use it until i have to.. that
is when i actually get a dvd that's not region 4 compatible
