autechre at work

so i work at...subway. but anyway, i got to put on
autechre, both confield and draft 7.30 over our stereo. one
kid said he liked it because it was "different" and one girl
only likes Top 40 shit, so fuck her. no customer complaints,
no customers just up and leaving.

i'm thinking of playing drukqs next, i want to see how many
people can handle a fast pace.

'Making orange things' would be an excellent one

nice

i work at a service deli at Fred Meyer, but it's a
supermarket, so i only get to hear shit played over the
master speaker, which is typical grocery-store-type soft
music. >=(

i'd like to hear a smooth jazz version of come to daddy.

Is Subway a shop or something? If it is then play some
Boards of Canada. There's subliminal messages in their music
telling people to 'Buy more stuff', 'shopping is cool' and
'Go on, threat yourself. Your worth it.'
Sales would be huge!

Try them on phthalocyanine O_O

It's kinda cool when you find "socially acceptable IDM."
Most people like BoC if they hear it a couple of times, i've
found.

Da fuck is a "sandwich technician"?! You mean you make
sandwiches? You butter bread. You fill it with stuff. You
place another slice on top. You make sandwiches. S'ok. You
don't need to inflate your job description here. I'm sure no
one worries about that.

Sandwich technician! That's a bit like a postman being an
phalatical engineer or a window cleaner being an optical
inhancer.

; )

Play some Carpenters or bay City Rollers. Hardcore is doing
what people DON'T expect. Putting on Smojphace to shock the
folks is so passe.

actually don't they really call them
"subway sandwich artists" ?

i thought this thread was going to be about autechre working
on a new album..

damn

Strange, i also work at Subway and i also play IDM to the
customers. I've been doing it for a while now so ive
actually had some feedback. People generally look confused
or even appaled.

Funniest thing was when i put Gantz Graf on to drive out a
guy who had been sitting in the store for ages. When CapIV
came on we cranked it up as loud as it would go. Needless to
say he didn't last too long....bwahahahaha!!!

I work at a mental hospital, so I guess playing afx or ae is
not a very good idea...

camden is indeed a cool place.

shops?

the record shops were just TOO many... went to a few 2nd
hand clothing shops but didn't find anything special...

tate modern museum was great!
I also went to the 'Dalí Universe', which was also great, I
love that man's work...

I watched Kill Bill at Leicester square, that movie was a
fucking kick in the nuts! I liked it a lot, absolutely mad
action...great music too, listening to the soundtrack now.

Awesome job title !

Come to think of it, The Kill Bill soundtrack would be
great, too !

blobula: only abroad...

hevequip: What's REALLY the problem with AE @ work?

The second disc from Tri Repetae might work; more
classically ambient for the 'pretty pop *****' & industrial
tunes for the 'alternative dude'.

sure. that would be some cool piece of furniture to have in
your living room... the elephant sculpture with those long
legs wouldn't be so bad either.

I think Bike from Incunabula would go over very well with
consumers. And Slip would DEFINITELY work. Maybe even Gelk.
Some people are potential IDM fans in the making, they just
haven't HEARD any of it.

I work in a newsagents, and last week I stuck together a Mix
CD for work in Traktor. It starts off with nice mellow stuff
like BoC, progresses through Plaid, mu-ziq, Snares, Aphex
(mangle 11), and finishes up with ae's awesome Cap.IV

the latter part of the CD often gets me some funny looks :D

i say pop in some vsnares just to see what people do.
something utterly crazy and noisey (but good, ie not
smojphace)

ahh... smojphace...

That or the Blair Witch 2 soundtrack after playing a lot of
pretty, almost quaint IDM.

THAT WOULD BE HARDOCRE.

haha, that's cool, confield in a subway... I'd freak if I
heard confield played in a fast food restaurant... I'd put
on some nice BoC or something myself... some nice yummy
MHTRTC or Hi SCores...
