just read the heart-breaking heavier than heaven (cobains
biography) and i just noticed a few similarites...

"In his first imagining of the album (Nevermind), Kurt had
wanted a "Girl" -side (composed of all the songs about Tobi)
and a "Boy" -side (to include "Sliver," "Sappy," and "Polly"
among others, all the songs about his family or his inner
world). (1990)

Also things like his choice of song titles are seem to be
along the same wavelength.

Kurt would also do mad things like refer to himself in the
3rd person and call himself Kurdt, etc.

Theres more stuff i cant remember but i wudnt be suprised if
Kurt was an influence on Richard (who states he doesnt have
any).

perhaps.
I have not yet read that book...
But Nirvana did some really good music, especially (in my
opinion) the "Nevermind"-album.

Nirvana > Aphex Twin
In Utero > Nevermind
Cheese > Sausage

I'm sure RDJ would love the comparison

Naaaah. I remember rich saying he hated Jesus and Mary Chain
when he was first making music, so it seems a bit unlikely
nirvana / kurt would be much of an influence. Both slightly
warped geniuses, but in pretty different ways i'd say.

i think rdj doesnt like as much exposure as kurt liked...

when it comes to music they are (were) both not schooled
artists doing brilliant music

(i think you're being sarcastic there!?)

him...novoselic and grohl hardly got any attention

it might have seemed that way on the outside...but face it -
he was doing everything to be in the media constantly

not to confuse anyone - he was me hero at that time!

nevermind is the best grunge album ever made. end of
story.

you ever wonder what's going to happen to his daughter? she
must be so disturbed...

In Utero is better than lamp-shades.

IMO

hmmm..... compares....

nevermind:
smells like teen spirit
in bloom
lithium
polly
come as you are

in utero:
scentless apprentice
pennyroyal tea
milk it
all apologies
frances farmer will have her revenge on seattle
heart-shaped box...

yeah, now that i think about, while NEVERMIND is a fantastic
album, i really don't find the second half to be standout.
Whereas I enjoy about 90% of In Utero, it's too bad i don't
own it anymore.

yeah! As if you can comparise kurt cobain with rdj? what are
you people: stupid? i know one thing for sure: they both
made music.

kurt wanted to be famous until he was, wanted to sell
records until he did. nothing was ever as he imagined it to
be. i imagine he wanted to be alive until he was born.

i stilll havent read heavier in heaven, but i do have the
journals, which are an amazing look into kurt's soul. relaly
shows you what he thought of everything. amazing shit. bit
it would be awesome if it turned out to be that afx was
inspired by one of the greatest, most emotional musisians of
all time.

i wish kurt had lived, i think nevermind and in utero might
have been sort of a parallel to richards selected ambient
works. simplistic, yet effective, songs. come as you are
is my favorite nirvana song.

It doesn't have to be a theory he adopted, when I was
younger I somtimes imagined that some songs were "boy songs"
and other "girl songs". So I doubt it's his idea in the
first place.

i can't believe how overrated nirvana is. out of all the
grunge bands, nirvana was probably the shittiest out of the
lot and they made it the biggest. Give me soundgarden any
day.

it seems a lot of younger kids are attracted to the whole
cobain attitude. i was.

i doubt rdj was influenced by the whole boy girl thing. like
atli said, anyone can make that up.

Eminem must be a huge Aphex fan:

Richard D. James Album = The Marshall Mathers LP

Surely he must have nicking the idea? An idea like that
could only have been born during the 90's... just like that
Girl/Boy bizniss.

And Cobain was great. Overanalyzed because of the huge
microscope on him, but great. Too bad they couldn't have
sold 50,000 records.
