I think I'd prefer to sit & listen to an artist experiment with some kit all night, something to take my mind on a journey without feeling like I should be flapping my arms.
The Orb used to host these kinds of things way back, I cant think of the name tho. I heard Aphex did something similar too.
Are there any events that cater for this?

if you get a chance, check people like tim hecker, jan jelinek, scanner, fennesz,...they dont do much gigs tho, so it could be a problem
i like variety...music for listening and music to get wild to :)

Id like to buy an old warehouse, and turn it into like a multimedia center...
like, have lots of shows and stuff, with music, and visuals, but also, like, during the day, have access for the youth to learn electronic gear and studio stuff etc...
it would have been awesome if I had some place like that to go to when I was growing up.
It would be free for people under 18 to use... and others would have to pay (need to make an income somehow!) and I guess concerts would be either free, or dirt cheap, like a dollar
i dunno
and it would also have a listening library... so people could listen to new music.
I guess the catch would be, you cant check it out, and leave with it... cause people would copy it etc
*shrug*
alot of bugs to work out... but thats my basic plan

mmmmm, I was thinking along the lines of some people from the msg board joining forces to create a kind of open mic event for sound & visual artists. I'm sure if enough of us joined forces we would have enough resources to put on a gig, start small & work our way from there.
Anyone else think this might be worth pursuing?

the kid koala show last month was like that. "the short attention span theater". they even set up chairs throughout the entire club so you had to just sit down and enjoy everything. it was great. awesome show.
