yar... nice choice, MetalGearSolid3 should be a corker
indeed if the previous games are anything to go by. I'm also
keen to check out mariogolf after spending a more than a few
hours on the 64 version.

I'm picking up Socom 2 in... 20 minutes.

Metal Gear Solid 3 looks incredible, but it's stilll a year
away. Gotta pick up Twin Snakes too. Halo 2 for Xbox late
next year... breath taking trailer for that game. And of
course Half Life, though my computer can't run it...

Resident Evil 4, there's some screenshots at Gamespot, you
play as Leon again. Should be awesome, been years since 3.
What else... Max Payne, that's out in Decemeber (already out
for PC and getting SPARKLING reviews).

Prince of Persia- Sands of Time got a 9.6 at IGN, one of the
highest rated games of the year so I'll have to rent that.
The one I'm looking forward to most is Splinter Cell-
Pandora Tomorrow.

I went to get Socom, but it wasn't there, so I came home
with Castlevania: Lament of Innocence. Fucking A. This is
some prime beef platform adventure, I didn't even know it
was out yet.

Awesome soundtrack, but that goes without saying... it's
Castlevania.

Anyway, off to play it.

I know its sad but the new teenage mutant ninja turtles

the old arcade was good for a laugh 4 player .

mario golf /kart , both look good .

My only wish in the whole gaming world is grand turismo 4
for the GC ( Pigs might fly )

Most definitely Half-Life 2. After seeing the videos of it
in action, every other game I've seen pales in comparison so
much that it's sort of nauseating. The physics engine in it
looks to be so detailed with every object in the game having
it's own physics that I think I could entertain myself for
hours just knocking things off of desks.

gaming has seriously gone down hill in the last couple of
years. almost all of the "big" titles coming out are
sequels. its becoming like the summer movie season. relying
far too heavily on graphics, hardly any innovative gameplay.
i mean, i'm getting really sick of half the new games coming
out being clones of vice city. even jak 2, a sequel to a
great 3d platformer, is essentially a vice city clone. and
vice city is not a great game. it is innovative, but
the gameplay wheres thin after half an hour. i always get
people saying "hey man, check this out, see what i can do"
and then i'm stuck watching them drive a car around miami
for an hour attempting to convince me they aren't wasting
their time.
what i want is a reconsideration of videogames. stop trying
to cash in on things that sold and funnel some money into
innovation, not just eye candy.

Supposedly, Mario 128 is supposed to feature some new
impressive innovative idea never before used in a game. It
was even rumoured that Nintendo didn't show it at E3 because
they were afraid it would be copied.

i like nintendo, i've always been a pretty loyal fan of
theirs, but their increasing reliance on their old titles is
pissing me off. miyamoto is a genius, and he does put some
great ideas into the updates of classics, but its beginning
to wear thin. also, their handling of their hardware hasn't
been that great. give them two years and they'll be the next
sega.

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2003-11-10 19:55 [#00944574]

for all my ranting about innovation, the thing i'd like to
see most right now is a side scrolling sonic the hedgehog
title for ps2. the graphics engine, an updated storyline,
and a new sonic, would make it a killer game, so long as
people can get past the fact that its 2d.

Hopefully they've learned a lesson about how to deal with
aquiring 3rd party games as well as utilizing the console's
hardware. I also hope that in the successor to the Gamecube
they choose some form of media for the games that doesn't
limit the amout of space so much. Though the quick
read-time of the small Gamecube disks is nice, I think the
compression that has to be used to cram everything on one
really takes away a chunk of the experience from something
that could be seamless and crisp. If they don't learn from
all they've done wrong and they do go under, then they most
likely deserve it, as sad as that is... though, I've got a
strange feeling that they'll be back on top come the next
generation.

offline zaphod from the metaverse on 2003-11-10 20:06 [#00944581]

meh. they'll never regain what they had during the nes-snes
era. it'd be nice, but its most likely a pipe dream,
although i wish it would happen. besides sega, nintendo is
by far my favorite first party producer of videogames.

Yeah, I like that ''gravity gun'' concept that they use in
that... that huge demo video really dropped my jaw, can't
wait.

The problem with Gamecube is that all the marquee titles are
first-party... Nintendo still makes brilliant games, but
Konami and others save their big titles for PS2.

And Mario 128 is being hyped up so much that if it ISN'T the
best game of all time, it's going to be a disapointment. No
media from it yet.

Hmm... that guy on the right looks like pretty standard RPG
fare. Blah. Just nitpicking though... I can't wait to see
some screenshots and videos of it in action.

- I've been playing Castlevania: Lament of Innocence all
day, two thumbs way up... this is Castlevania in 3D, done
right... maybe a bit embryonic though, since it's not all it
COULD be, but the series is running in the right direction
on the major consoles, finally. Buy the thing.
