Piero Manzoni - Socle du Monde Edward Hopper - Automat, Chop Suey Rineke Dijkstra - Any of her "beach" or "bullfight" series Robert Motherwell - Any of his "Elegy To The Spanish Republic" paintings
but i actually find more inspiration from non-art sources...

hehe, i know the feeling...
I'm a rauscheberg fan myself, especially the more interactive pieces and sculptures from mid 60s onward.
