Fantastic album. It's got Seventies bashing, Eighties synth, and Nineties - grade irony (disco songs dissing disco? C'mon, that's classic !) Plus, some genuinely chilling moments (Winter Kills) and one of the saddest & frightening suicide ballads ever (In My Room) (at least, it SEEMS like a suicide ballad...) Even the pisstake (I Before E Except After C) is a reconstruction of a conversation held upstairs at Eric's. Overall, it's a sterling work, with my only complaint being the sparseness of lyrics on some songs and their running length on others. 9.1 / 10 |
