Yeah I fell in love with the Gary Jules version of this
song after I saw Donnie Darko (who didn't).

But I just heard the Tears for Fears version on the radio,
and boy does it suck.

yeah the redone version is wicked good, but the remixes on
the soundtrack suck, they just added crappy drum tracks over
the original song. oh yeah

BEWARE! tragedy will be posting in here verrrrryy soon....

agreed.

gary jules version > original tears for fears

great soundtrack all around.

Has anyone bothered looking into Gary Jules' albums? What
are they like? I've heard a couple of songs from Greetings
on the Side, they were pretty good.

Love Will Tear Us Apart was the highlight of the movie for
me. I got all giddy.

yeah, those 80's tunes were used to great great effect
throughout that movie.

haven't heard anything else by jules, though

yah, it does, but it's weird cause i'm actually listening to
gary jules version right now... mad world is an amazing
song, really emotional. any wayss, i love the sdtk, i think
the whole thing is really good....
anyways... i heard there were 2 different sdtk's to that
movie... like, one with echo and the bunny men and all the
80's stuff, and one with all gary jules stuff.... don't know
if that's true or not tho.

boy do you suck. if a cover version never had an original
you wouldnt have anything to compare it to. the original is
rather personal and lets remember who wrote the lyrics shall
we? how old were you in 1982? do you have any grasp of
synthpop? have you read any arthur janov? do you even know
what the song is about?

other gary jules stuff is nothing like this song. perhaps
because he can't write a song for toffee and has to steal
other peoples classics.

deserve to have an opinion about anything

thanx for proving me right. did you ever go class or did you
spend your entire time calling people names in the corridor
and smoking cigarettes in the bad boy toilets like the rebel
you are?

agreed all around. the T4F original kills the remake. most
people here lack a frame of reference, don't mind them for
not getting it.

avoid tv altogether until next year

i think gary jules version is excellent btw. apart from the
obvious differences in the version i like the fact he's
changed the feeling by making the bass note on one of the
chords in the verse. very clever but it needs a muso to
notice it i guess :)

*changing the bass note

sorry i changed my mind on how i was phrasing what i was
trying to say halfway through. probably made no sense anyway

"standing tall". how original.

Oddly enough the pair of them are on Frank Skinner right
now, both wearing skimpy black numbers and looking odds on
for threes up
