The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-19 02:58 [#00053378]

I'm probably gonna be shot down for this, but I sooooo want
to pick up their new album... they're pop sure, but it's so
infectious... and really, what's wrong with a good dance
album, that you can actually dance to... even pop music (to
a certain extent) has its place in my collection...

PharbiaZungo from Swandean on 2001-11-19 03:01 [#00053380]

You should pick up Sash's new album and the soundtrack to
Big Brother while you're down there....

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-19 03:03 [#00053381]

*shoots The Funkmaster in the head

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-19 03:05 [#00053382]

nah... I love pop music... again, to a certain extent,
because I draw the line with boy bands, and all that crap...
but pop music like Daft Punk, and pop rock from bands like
U2, Toto, Starship is good in a lot of ways... now, I have
my "brilliant" artists, and albums, but sometimes you just
want to enjoy an infectious pop song...

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-19 03:10 [#00053383]

I can pretty much enjoy any type of music... it's what
stands up after a load of listens, and fits some other
criteria of mine, that I consider brilliant...

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-11-19 03:54 [#00053393]

i like the album homework the best

boxrocket on 2001-11-19 03:56 [#00053394]

i'm a very big daft punk fan. i have their new album and for
the first two weeks i owned it i could not listen to it
without crying. i'm of the opinion that in many ways they
are musical geniuses. all of the above is a true statement.

*ducks*

Bogus on 2001-11-19 03:59 [#00053396]

the discovery album is a great album... but it's made for a
purpouse and only that so in it's own context it's amazing.

it's great for say a party.

Aktium from bat country on 2001-11-19 04:31 [#00053403]

i love daft punk, there alive album is awsome.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-19 04:56 [#00053409]

Just shot you in the head cuz you seemed like you wanted

I dig the DPunk, no worries.

PearlsGirrl from chicago on 2001-11-19 05:22 [#00053413]

i like daft punk too. has anyone seen the video/movie thing
for discovery? its like a japanimation type thing that
narrates the whole discovery cd in movie form. i didnt see
all of it cause i was flipping channels one night and found
the very last part of it on cartoon network. its pretty
cool. does anyone know if its available for sale??

damion on 2001-11-19 05:28 [#00053414]

Pusher of the Square from mars on 2001-11-19 07:28 [#00053428]

Daft Punk is really super cool, did anyone see all there
animated videos. For a while they were putting their music
videos on toonami.com and they were all anime, but they
stopped....... :(
anyone know if they finished them, or just lost interest?

\/\/ooÆ’erAttack!!! from Milan on 2001-11-19 07:47 [#00053431]

Homework better than Discovery.
The song Dafunk is awesome.

Woofer

Mutant Death Pengwin from Medicine Hat on 2001-11-19 08:25 [#00053435]

homework was the best. i really like that song where they
have a different voice on right and left.

Chrispy from UK on 2001-11-19 08:53 [#00053441]

Homework is def better... It's still gotta be that bassline
in Round the World. but Voyager is very good on Discovery

Korben Dallas from 88 hobson ave on 2001-11-19 12:14 [#00053487]

its ok .. the best part of homework I thought was that first
track with the vocoder - "WKD .. blah blah .. the sound of
tomorrow today" ..

the rest is ok .. bit overplayed at partés tho

fOrTkNoX from STUPid fACE on 2001-11-19 14:55 [#00053502]

i like home work.....kinda...
AntI-pop music.....
i hate POP...!

d'oki from grmny on 2001-11-19 14:57 [#00053503]

i like face to face and too long best (don´t know - hit me
first time i heard it ... i like the vocal stuff on too long
very much ... and face to face is weird ...

Ceri JC from Rainy Wales on 2001-11-19 15:37 [#00053516]

Has anyone heard anything by the "dirty beatniks", it's one
of the guys from daft punk. Similair sound, quite good. I
prefer that to daft punk.

d'oki from grmny on 2001-11-19 16:04 [#00053524]

damn, i didn´t ever realised that!! was standing alot of
times holding that disc in my hands but didn´t know who the
fuck it was ... now i´ll give it a try ;-)

evolume from at work in bothell, north of seattle, USA on 2001-11-19 16:42 [#00053526]

why is it that to get air play, music has to have lyrics?
even with electronic music, the only ones that make it onto
the major seattle radio stations have vocals. Moby,
chemical brothers, prodigy, daft punk, bet you can think of
some others.

Ophecks from Nova Scotia on 2001-11-19 17:34 [#00053549]

I like that Daft Video, too , they're all on a spaceship,
good stuff.
It's on Much Music quite often, see if you can tape it or
something.

Maximus Volumus aka Wax The Nip on 2001-11-19 17:42 [#00053553]

DP are okay
Death to bubblegum pop
All music is acceptable except country and pop and poka and
folk
That is all

The_Funkmaster from Newfoundland, Canada on 2001-11-19 18:15 [#00053564]

I like Arounnd the World... amusing video...

zetre on 2001-11-19 21:57 [#00053589]

Basement Jaxx are better tho..
Where´s your head at!!!
you know..
as far as big house-acts go..
One more time by Daft Punk was a nice disco-banger,
would´ve been better without the vocoder tho..
Digital Love-hate it-hate the video-hate it..

i just got discovery...and it's decent. the 303 is great,
and the songs are very infectious...especially stronger,
harder, faster, longer (i don't remember the title). it's
totaly a rave abulm...i've heard that the daft punk crew are
french, is this true? if so, pretty interesting...the cd has
a great sence of beauty...

i'd also like to add that the sound has a definate evolution
from homework, and is a great step in the "detroit techno"
style, even though, i could swear that they're french.

I love One more Time. It gets the lil hairs on the back of
me neck standing up. Nearly as good as Musis Sounds Better
with You

yeah, one more time is a great track, i love the part in the
bridge where the vocodered voice says,
"celelbrate......mmmmmmmmmmm...." that vibration in the
mmmm, is to sweet.

i once dated a def girl for a short while, and whenever we
both went to raves or house parties, and they would play
that part really loud, she said that she you feel the
vibration so well, that it was almost like hearing...

Yep they're indeed from France. I love daft punk. I'd have
to agree w/ Bob McBob about aerodynamic -- especially when
that guitar/synth comes in. Simply beautiful

whenever i talk about the beauty in the daft punk tracks,
i'm reminded about the line/scene from the "man in the iron
mask" where the king (leo di-cap) is talking about how
france is such a beautiful kingdome.

me...great for an emotional mescaline trip...
