I bought Discovery by Daft Punk last night, and it's
fantastic... I had heard most songs from it before in mp3
format, but hearing it through my headphones is awesome...
it just rules... One More Time, Voyager, Veridis Quo, Face
to Face... man this album has some killer tracks...

Veridis Quo sounds like the lost Neverending Story track...
it sounds sooo much like that soundtrack it's not funny...
which is good, cause I love that soundtrack... Voyager is
crazy funky, and the melody rules... Too Long is great... I
personally think this one is better then Homework...
Homework is great, but has too many annoying little
tracks... this one is pretty awesome all the way through
except for maybe Something About Us which is TOO cheesy, and
Short Circuit which can get a little annoying... other then
that though, it's excellent and so much fun!

Digital love is the best on that album.

: )

They're making a film using that whole album running
straight though and having the animation from the videos as
the visual, carrying on the story... cool eh?

I love music like this... it takes cheesy styles of music
from the past and mixes it all together to create something
yummy... I like lots of different styles of music, and I
adore cheesy 80's stuff, and so this album just fits me to a
tee... :)

and yes, Digital Love does rule... my favorite is Voyager
though... that beat, and melody is just so funky sweet! :)

I had heard that they wanted to do videos for all the
different songs... all the video's they did do seem to run
together as a little movie anyways... I guess because of
money and time constraints they didn't... but yeah, the
movie should be cool!

yeah 'discovery' was a cool album. it's amazing how
completely shithouse 'homework' was compared to it.

both daft albums are cheesy-wicked...

they gos the gift of melody, they gonna bring it to the
end...

it is pretty cheesy... but I have cheesiness running through
my veins... seriously though, I can hear so many styles in
here from early 80's hip-hop, to disco, to 80's hair metal,
to stuff like Boston or Journey, to Giorgio Moroder style
synth stuff, to George Clinton Funk, to 80's electro, even
to some ambient... it's crazy... I just love albums that
mass styles together like that, I find it so nostalgic...
everyone says BoC are nostalgic... forget that... for me
they aren't at all, I still love em though... it's music
like this, like The Avalanches, and DJ Shadow that I find
nostalgic... mashing all these old styles of music together,
it reminds you of old songs and stuff... kick ass stuff!

Yeah, all great trax and will probably get "classic" status
in a few years.
If you like this stuff, definitely find Thomas Bangalter's
"Trax On Da Rocks". (He's 1/2 of Daft.)
FYI: "Harder, better, faster, stronger" samples Edwin
Birdsong's "Cola Bottle Baby".

well I do find it a little cheesy in a few areas... but I
think they were going for that, and it doesn't hurt the
album in my opinion, but makes it better... half the reason
I like this so much is because it's almost like a trip
through my childhood... it's amazing that so many different
styles are represented... I've always loved music like this
which just mashes lots of different styles together...

personally I think this is absolutely amazing stuff... and I
don't see how I could ever get sick of it... but I'm sure
that's possible... anyways, amazing stuff! :)

P.S. I love the last track... it's maybe a bit too long, but
has a great beat and groove, so it's all good!

this blows Homework away in my opinion... the songs seem to
have more depth to them on Discovery... Homework is good,
just not as good imo...

Aerodynamic is the real highlight of the album for me. I
just love that Van Halen guitarsolo!
