i couldn't get through the first two paragraphs of that
tripe, sorry mate.

prince is sweet just for being an icon for so long, whether
you like his music or not.

i just bought the Purple Rain DVD for under 10
bucks.....it's a great movie/concert kinda thingy.....i
think that Album was Prince's finest moment!

very talented man, just wish he and a lot of other talented
folks didn't get screwed by record companies and robbed of
producing music when they were at their peak..=/

i don't understand why you'd even bother rehashing the
cliche prince insults and add some not exactly minor ones of
your own only to praise it in the end. i think REAL music
fans should be above acknowledging, much less playing to,
existing unfair and uninformed prejudices. prince has made
some brilliant and some extremely entertaining music. talk
about THAT, not what some lamebrain thinks of his
appearence.

I didnt write that

and it really isn't serious, which i think is pretty
obvious. you should relax a bit, for the good of your long
term health.

What the hell? I skimmed all of it and it's more like a
British stoner's guide to Japan, he doesn't even go to the
show yet.

oh i'm sorry i thought it was a scholarly review *eyeroll*

my point is that no one ever has the balls to give prince
his due and that is really lame.

OK if you want to push the point, this is right off the
first page

"you have to give this guy his dues. I don`t care what you
say. I like his music a lot, particularly the 80s stuff. He
knows how to make seriously good music. Just listen to any
of his records from the 80s. Open your mind and really
listen to those songs. They are amazing. The musicianship,
the songwriting, the SOUL, the deep sophisticated grooves,
the message - it`s all good. Prince is undeniably a star
(although he is a bit short, but you can`t have it all). He
can play any instrument, he can dance and he has a great
voice. He can extract funk from almost any situation. I
personally believe that he inherited the `soulbrother number
1` title from George Clinton (who inherited it from JB of
course), and as far as I know he hasn`t passed it down to
anyone else (who is there in his class?)"

happy now?

ecstatic, only now i feel bad for not having read the whole
thing before posting.

in other news.. andre 3000 is apparently inteviewing prince
for the cover story of an upcoming issue of oneworld
magazine. they'd never met before even though prince is one
of andre's idols (he recently recommended pink listen to him
after she revealed in an entertainment weekly roundtable
discussion between herself, outkast, and dave matthews that
she didn't get him but hasn't really listened much).

prince's "gold" is really good, I recommend it to any of
those real/fake prince fans (you know who you are)

That's probably the strangest review I've not had the
pleasure of reading.

I only go for his early stuff... Not so much the first album
but the "Little Red Corvette" "The Ladder" "I would die 4 U"
and so on... Great productions.

Prince wouldn't suck if he wasn't so far up his own ass. He
had some hits in the eighties, but he's not the messiah.

The new NEWS... anyone heard it? I like it.
