I love capcom and everything but Ive slowly been leaning
towards SNK as of late. I just beat Metal Slug X (which
kicked ass) and latly I prefer to play king of fighters over
street fighter...

The future is now SNK.

SNK, maker of the Neo Geo which was an arcade machine you
could have in your own home back in the day (provided you
had the money :D)

I'm still with Capcom when it comes to fighting games,
although I do fancy Samurai Shodown IV a bunch.

I've played SVC: Chaos, it wasn't all that impressive. I'll
go back to Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike and Marvel Vs Capcom
2.

Yes the Neo Geo was the SNK arcade system in a console...the
games cost over £100 each and it looked like this:

I have the cartridge version in storage at my parents place.
I picked it up at a car boot sale with King Of Fighters 94
for £30 about three years ago, and it works perfectly and
everything :D

I remember Ikari Warriors.
or what was it called?

But I think I have to go with capcom.
atleast back in the days they were my
fav gamemakers.
They aren't nowadays, or not even as I look back at that
period of time.

But I do like oldgames I do I do :)
I will pickup my old 8-bit nintendo the next time I am at
home, and bring it to my place. Excellent :)

I'm considering buying this game for the cartridge system,
but I have a feeling they'll release SvC 2 next summer, and
I've heard there are some small problems with hit detection
and whatnot with this release. (Plus it'll be out for the
PS2)

The new Samurai Showdown is a must get thought. December
11th!

Man I wanted a Neo Geo SOOOOOOO bad when I was younger, but
the system cost about 1000 dollars and the games about 200
each!

I'm making up for my deprivation with Neo Geo roms though,
some of the best 2D fighters ever. Last Blade 1 and 2,
Samurai Showdown, Garou: Mark of the Wolf... And the Metal
Slug games were a fucking work of chaotic art. I'm going to
play one today.

Last Blade 2 and Garou are my favorite fighters. They just
don't get old. And Fatal Fury Special, I grew up with that
game.

I'm interested to see how the next Metal Slug comes out.
Number 4 was OK but nothing great, by the looks of the
screen shots I've seen they've done a good job.

Will the Neo-Geo ever die?

p0g0 the neo pocket was great. It was far superior to game
boy and game gear when it was released but alas, it never
caught on. The soccer game for it was insanely fun.

They still make games for Neo Geo ?!?!?!?! CRIPES!!!!!

Yeah NeoGeos were way over priced (on the east coast of
canada anyway)
It was 19.99 a fucking night to rent in 1989 ...

Man I really really want to move to Tokyo or at least visit.
The cute arcade girls seem to be an added plus :)

32 bit consoles made all the arcades in my town go out of
business : ( x 10
I have to play MAME roms in the safe comfort of my home now
: (

what a lot of people don't know is many of the developers of
the team that created the first Street Fighter game
(Fighting Street) left Capcom and formed SNK. They actually
developed a lot of the formulas that are the skeleton of the
SF series. And on top of that, they utilized "super moves"
in their games long before Capcom did (see Art of Fighting)

It's a really tough choice, but i have to go with Capcom
though - while SNK created some of the more unique elements
of 2D fighters, Capcom perfected them.
