Anyone tried this yet? I've yet to try the Reason
series... any pros and cons?

Its not bad if u really get into it and tear apart the
presets, they sound way too clinical, I like the Re-Drum
Machine and Subtractor. Don't like the sampler or the
compressor. Cool how you can flip over the rack and patch
things up differently tho.

its good for the effects ie scream distortion but you need
to get a separate wav editor to finish things

Yes, if you use the new vocoder (only in 2.5) as an EQing
device there's much less need for .wav editing
afterwards...

this has been an area reason has been weak on in the past,
but they're getting there.

Pro's- Probably the fastest way to make a whole track
(compared to other programs, aside from perhaps acid/live,
but arranging samples is more like djing than composing).
The Malstrom is quite unique sounding. The subtractor is
very versatile (provided you use it with fx properly).
Comparatively low cpu demands- very efficient.

Con's- Still needs the odd bit of post rendering to wav
work.
No vst support.

I do not have enough good things to say about it.

: )

I LOVE it.

Another con, no "export to loop" function to make perfect
loops for use in dr. rex/acid/live. It is a great program
though, I can't think of anything better for making drum and
bass.

Surely if you just make the loop one bar longer then edit
the gap out with a wav editor, problem solved.

I tried the Mac demo of 2.5, I couldn't figure out what was
going on... maybe I iz just stoopid but it didn't seem to
offer much help.

It'll take a while.

No, I did a thread on this before... it seems to be
inpossible to make perfect loops with anything with reverb
or any sort of delay. It's fine for percussive sounds, but
for slow synth parts it always sounds stilted when looped.
Floops on the other hand makes brilliant loops that are the
audio equivalent of tiles...

Hmmm

I never have a problem.

tMore detail

I know you can work around it by cutting the loop where the
signal is zero or even by harshly fading it, but I want a
way of looping lush delay/reverb drenched pads without
noticeable fades etc...

I must say I just started playing with it today and it looks
pretty intuitive. I love rerouting the cables on the back.
Visually it takes the options off of some confusing menu.
Makes things easier to figure out while I'm stumbling
through the learning process. I made a pretty solid groove
in a matter of 30 mins or so and with only 3 tracks. So I'm
guessing with time, I may be able to put some real nice
stuff down with it.

ohh also, is there a way to record nob movements? Like live
recording?
