Polanski's Ninth Gate

It's on TV now. What do you think of it? I kinda liked it.
Not your average run of the mill 'evil' film. I liked the
theme of medieval books and the general atmosphere of the
film. Not a 'great' film but a reasonably good one.

yeah, the end was pretty terrible... but it was a creepy
film... held up an interesting vibe, right up to the end...

I found an interesting site about the various religious
interpretations of the film. I'll see if I can dig it out of
my links collection.
*gets shovel*

johnny depp is great, but this movie sucked. i kept
watching it thinking it would get better, and then it kept
going in worse and worse directions. roman polanski is
really over-rated.

the ones i have seen: chinatown was good. so was
rosemary's baby. but pirates and 9th gate were terrible.
the pianist definitely should never have won an award.

well i always like people playing piano in a movie..
shine was cool too
though the pianist prolly was all sincere and such, i
thought it was melodramtic

Yeah, it was executed a bit awkwardly. Leno Olin is sexy
though, and so is Polanski's girl, Emmanuelle Singer (sp?),
and I liked the atmosphere. And Johnny Depp's cheekbones.
The plot had me saying ''what the fuck'' under my breath
though, often. ''WTF, WTF, WTF?''

Pretty average movie, he came back with the Pianist though
so he's still got it.

the end makes no sense.

the scene with the book collector guy lighting himself on
fire is one of my alltime favorite movie scenes ever.

great. it deserved every award it got, many more.
