well, not exactly and album, but smojphace appeals to me in
no way at all, probably my most regretted purchase in a
while

what do you think is the worst album of the year?

I have no idea. There's probably some elderly nudist hare
krishna kazoo orchestra that released an album of John Tesh
compositions... no on second thought I'd want to hear that.
:D

maybe dead prez's album that ended up not being released..
they really shot themselves in the foot by trying to go
gangsta. no one in the hood wants to hear them.

I also have no idea, really.

I generally don't buy music I do not like.

in general, I must say 50 cent has been irritating the hell
out of me. only heard the singles (over and over and over).
does that count?

singles aren't an album

you're probably like me and don't buy albums that you end up
not liking

Heh, probably not the worst, but I listened to it once, and
haven't had the urge to listen to it agin. :\

yup.

that's what I said in the post you referred to. :P

Smojphace, It's so bad I'm pissed I wasted the time
downloading, listening and deleting it off my computer.

i was elaborating a bit.. i don't download much before i buy
(i go by how much i like the artist and what i've read about
the album) and i still don't end up with hardly anything i
dislike. but i use p2p a lot to get into artists.

btw i'd have to agree that smojphace is probably the worst
EP of the year.

I usually enjoy albums the most if I don't hear any of it
before I buy it. It's great to hear a new album start to
finish.

mm, I also buy records without having heard them, that's
true.

I also sometimes buy dvd's that way - I guess I know what I
like (more or less) and so I can kind of get the feel
whether a cd or film will be to my liking, in some way or
other.

True, but when you don't have the money to take chances on
shit albums, what can ya do? *shrug*

yea i think certain people know exactly what they like and
that's why we rarely get burned with bad music choices..
personally i also have a (good) habit of looking for the
positive aspects of albums so usually i tend to enjoy them
more and more if at first i'm not impressed much. some
people just move on which is too bad..

if I think I will really enjoy it

Because people are tired of waiting for him to pull his head
out of his ass and produce a solid, thoughtful album of
tunes.

titsworth, there's a sad infallible constant/fact in/about
post-diddified hiphop: there is NO artist.. not ONE .. that
is not guilty of pandering. they either talk shit about
thugs and guns when they probably grew up in the suburbs of
queens or one of the oranges (wyclef, jay dee) or they
pander to the clubs (see above, et al .. et many fucking al)
.. or they change their production style to meet the current
trends no matter how ghastly they are.. even to the point
where they'd downgrade it to sound like the next just
blaze.. who is really just another rockwilder.. who is
really just a more involved swizz beats.. who is really just
a single-track minded producer with weak snares and casio
synths that somehow managed to get the mainstream and the
(new york ones, at least) under a spell..

after puffy and jay-z opened the flood gates and showed the
rest of the industry how much money there was to be made
(after making the right moves, that is) all integrity went
flying out the 740 SL window.

you can't name one artist that could be releasing thourough,
quality work that isnt' busy being self-conscious to what
the short-attention spans of the clubgoers and consumers
want.

RZA, M.O.P. (don't make me site what happened with them), De
La Soul, Royce 59, Sunz of Man, Slum Village, Q-Tip (ugh.)
Outkast, Talib Kweli, Buckshot (BDI Thug!?) Smif-n-Wesson,
Timbaland, Run-DMC, Method Man, Hi-Tek, Mos Def.. it goes on
and on and on .

if you bring up anticon I'll smack the shit out of you
