plot -

Charlotte Rampling plays a British novelist who goes for a
holiday at her publisher's French villa, and is startled
when the publisher's sexually predatory daughter turns up.
The older woman spies on the younger, who brings home a
series of men and then one night goes too far - in a
thriller that understands, as Hitchcock did, the small steps
by which a wrong decision grows in its wrongness into a
terrifying paranoid nightmare. With Ludivine Sagnier as the
daughter; directed by Francois Ozon.

this was a unique and original movie that i'd recommend for
peepz who enjoy mysteries. it's a quiet lil movie that
really surprised me. Charlotte Rampling is such a great
actress, she adds such character to every role i've seen her
in. and the younger actress was so pretty and i imagine
she'll be making lots of movies in the future.

2 thumbs up!

hi, lecoeur

umm, perhaps this is a silly question, perhaps i missed
something, but here...

were all those events in france just an imagination of mrs.
rampling? or was that girl (who was suposed to be daughter
of the publisher) real?
was that his other daughter?

i missed the first 5 minutes of the film hehe

hehehhe......rascal.....i can not miss even a minute of a
film....IF i'm late i just go to the next showing....drives
me nutz!

YES the girl was REAL. it was his OTHER daughter, both named
JULIE. =0)

i liked how they through that in to make you wonder if this
'mystery' writer imagined it all or it really happened. but
it did REALLY happen .... proof is the book that she had
published in the end (remember the comment he made to her
about it.....SAME thing he said to 'french' julie's mum when
she asked him to read it)

i really am glad you saw this film....i find you, me, evil
Q, MoG, and fleetmousey share the same view on many movies!
i love FILM!!

thanks...now that i think of the book she published at the
end it makes it clear :), i forgot about that...but then
this other julie walked in and, well i was a bit confused
:)

im off to teathre in about half an hour again, im going to
see "sex is comedy", it should be fun from what i've read
about it...
here's a short review if you're interested haha:

A film crew is shooting a film on the Atlantic coast near
Lisbon. They are concentrating on the key love scenes,
requiring that the actors show genuine emotions.
Unfortunately however, the young stars cannot bear the sight
of each other. Jeanne, the director, grows more and more
desperate… Furthermore, she begins to realise that many of
the scenes are completely meaningless…

i hope its good, not that i expect something like pool or
lost in translation again :)

apperantly girl wasn0t real after all...here's short version
of ozon's comment: Ozon said that Sarah was in love with and
felt rebuffed by John, her publisher. So the whole Provence
experience in John's house was an imagined story, her
revenge on him, in the form of a novel about a slutty
daughter, who ends up a killer, etc. The motivating impulse
for her novel, which John dislikes, of course -- with good
reason -- was anger at John, hell hath no fury, etc. and her
creative way of getting back at him."
