freeganism

check it out.. freegans are nuts. for anyone who doubts,
this is real; i know a girl who went freegan for a long
time, living off of thrown-away food. talk about letting
your ideals get the best of you.

wow.

that's pretty strange.

good ol' subtle opinions.. "Most fall in te happy medium
who would rather eat a load of bread with whey in it than
make a $2 donation to the corporate death machine."

He he, they don't seem to realise that by going through the
skip at the back of macdonalds they're still living off the
"evil machine".

There's some weird pseudo-religious thing whereby people
believe they don't need to eat at all. Some weird cult
convinces college students that they can live on air alone
and as a result, they die. What's particularly sick is that
the cult leaders evidently eat as they survive...

stupid extreme anticapitalists thinking they can solve the
problem that way

if you want to make a difference, start using your brain and
do things on a bigger scale then eating shit from diapers

Hmm, again, this still relys on the corporate machine, but
you're also screwing over other people as well! Great...

"Scams/Shoplifting - There are a slew of shady ways to score
free food...always let your consious be yuor guide!

Shoplifting - There is some debate over how freegan this
really is because you are still creating an empty shelf that
must be restocked, but it is more reegan than forking over
big bucks. This is a more direct attack on the store selling
the goods, not the producer (unles you hyper-boycott a
product: pick something you can't stand and consistently get
it off the shelves, steal it, break it, hide it, just
eliminate it and the store will eventually stop selling it)
so you should consider if you are putting a ma & pa organic
veggie stand our of business or just chipping away at a
corporate giant.

Employee Theft - Some folks believe this to be more ethical
than shoplifting because it is a trade-off: they steal your
time and energy and you steal their food. If you work
somewhere that sucks, hook yourself up, hook up your
friends, hook up strangers, hook up your local FNB! I have
heard tales of a kid who feeds a three-person household of
his workplace acquisitions from the health food store. They
eat damn good, too! Yuo can also get the insider scoop and
may be able to intercept food headed for the dumpster. "

A recent theory of mine is that if you choose not to have
children you are freed from your civic duty not to pollute
or use up resources. In effect you can use all the stuff
your potential descendants would without guilt as you have a
"right" to that amount of petrol/ozone
damage/rainforest/etc.

What are people's thoughts on that?

retardedly childish, blind for reality, narrowminded,
thinking that will solve the worlds problems...

thats all i can make of it

as usual I find some interesting thoughts behind it all, but
they way they're doing it is not the key way.

Hmmm, its a good point. I think people do take advantage of
what this world is offering. I dont think you should become
a Freegan(unless you feel as if you can) but look at your
expenses and your life style.

anyone dares showing this to a hobo...? =P

seriously.
i agree with "Working Sucks", but how can you take seriously
a tract that says it like that, and, among others, ends with
"** Yo! Copy and Distribute this Document!! :-) **"
in big letters?

"Water - Don't shower often and when you do, instead of
showering, "go swimming" in the shower with a friend - it is
fun, explorative, liberating, and consumes less water! Don't
flush when you pee! If won't hurt you, pee just sits in the
toilet not bothering anyone; it doesn't warrant the 10
gallons per flush just to get rid of it. Wait until you get
a good healthy poop in there and then flush it all away. If
you don't like the smell of pee stagnating in the toilet,
pee outside our dilute your urine (7 water to 1 pee) and
fertilize withit or drink it (Gandhi drank a cup of his own
pee every day). Also, you can make manure out of your own
poop! Or... dumpster dive some adult diapers and have a
party where everyone straps one on and fills it up -no water
wasted. "

haha ^^
yeeeah, riiiight.

its ironic that this document is available on the internet,
the peak of information technology feeding on billions of
watts of electricity produced by countless
environment-altering energy collection methods, displayed on
expensive computers and monitors full of environmentaly
toxic materials and built by the very corporations that they
recommend boycotting.

if these freegans really want to give back to the planet,
they ought to just mulch themselves.

Some of that's half true. Most people won't notice if you
shower every other day instead of every day. And a few other
things.
Most of it is idealistic bollocks, though. If they want to
do it, let them. But it all seems incredibly insane to me.

she was weird.. she didn't know all the specifics of the
causes she supported, she just blindly adopted them all of a
sudden, i guess because she wanted to be different or part
of some cool crowd. maybe she thought it was a hippie thing
to do to stop showering, to conserve water or something.

i can't see how stealing food from a store, especially the
organic fruits that these wacko's are probably eating, is
going to help the environment. the more they steal, the
more the store has to order from farms that will need to
increase in size to compensate for larger demand. larger
farms use more resources and more pesticides. Organic
farms, because of a lack of pesticides and fertilizers have
to use even more than regular farms.

not to mention, the store will likely have to tighten
security, which means more "slaves" working for the store as
security guards. and more electronic surveilance equipment
eating up more electricity.

in my experiance... 90% of people who are into some
alternative life styles, or thinking usually dont know even
1/4th of whats behind it.

Perhaps there heart is in the right place... but its hard to
take them seriously when you start talking to them, and
realize that they dont really know what they are talking
about.

i think it doesnt even really work in theory either... cause
you are still consuming the "corperate" food... just not
paying for it.

if you really want to bypass all this... go out, live in the
woods, and grow your own food or something.

Working Sucks - Where does the money you spend come from?
You or your folks working long hours at a dehumanizing job,
most likely. You don't have to compromise yourself and your
humanity to the evil demon of wage-slavery! Working sucks
and if a little scavenging can keep you from needing a job
than go jump in a dumpster! Even if you do need to work to
pay your bills, think about how much less you would have to
work if you didn't have to buy food.

don't forget you'll have to work to pay off the MEDICAL
BILLS from all the illness you'll get from eating BAD food!
yipes.......peepz sometimes GOOD food is thrown away, but
MOST times it's just BAD food.....but i guess they expect
the rest of us werkin' schleps to pay for their medical care
when they get sick from this.

i say grow a garden and live off that, if you wanna be NON
commercial....at least you'll be eating fresh things and
making things grow....oye!
