well, this might be a good topic for you sci-fi types out
there with a strong imagination, let alone the mindset from
the music by which this community is based.

so what ideas or concepts do you think could be fit fore the
future in general?

we won't even need tv, a pair of untied shoelaces will
suffice. nothing short of a swamp.

people have already managed to teleport a particle today,
but we're not talking about teleporting entire bodies! that
won't happen, or at least not until a very long time....

maybe:
there will be "e-books" in addition to normal books (but
normal books won't disappear, never or at least not until a
very long time)... lots of new devices for handicaped and
ill people will be invented... there will be more and more
old people, they'll end up more numberous than young and
"normal-aged" people... we will work for longer and
longer... as for music, maybe experimental music/noise will
become more and more popular, there will be a time when it
will be trendy (then it will be something else)... there
will be futuristic devices for relaxing, having fun, between
work during breaks etc, like maybe masks you put on and
which deliver pheromones or waves or something that makes
you relax... the governments everywhere will have more and
more problems, there will be a risk of fascism rising again
(i hope not, but seeing how far-right is rising now in
europe in general, i'm quite anxious about this)... there
might be a political crisis, and yes, maybe WWIII (not the
album, it's already out - the real war =P) because of this
again... the weather changes, summers will be getting hotter
and hotter, maybe snow will disappear in winter too (too
bad), but maybe we could have artificial snow in some
places... we won't have iced grounds in winter either, that
on the other hand would be a good thing - we will have found
a solution to wipe it out... maybe, in some times, all
countries "modern" and "industrialized" etc. today will rise
their peak then fall, it will all go berserk, and at the end
it will be crisis - whereas the countries today poor/in
devlopement, like in Africa, will have devloped and will be
in the end in better situation than us...

...or maybe, Mariah Carey will show her true self and
transform into a giant creature with a black shiny
exoskeleton like an insect, claws, three breasts, and a
passion for minimalist experimental free jazz from the
1980's, George Washington will rise from the dead and
accidentally spread his undeadness everywhere, we will all
be contaminated, mutate into zombies and be killed by Jill
Valentine and her teammates, who will at the end destroy
earth and go to another planet with Mariah Carey (who will
have renamed herself +-;'.-. ++-+-) to found a new
civilization again! this other planet will be covered with
strange trees and purple water, and there will be marine
panda-like creatures... there will be a factory implanted,
all humans will be synthetic made in a factory with a
randomizer so it would be like real... everyone will be
listening to anti-music, made of deeper and lower anti-noise
"hypersilences"... but there will be a bug somewhere in the
new year 254, so that there will be 217 people looking
exactly the same with the same ideas and those persons will
look like George W. Bush with dreadlocks... and then, in new
year 375, people will become all more nihilist than ever,
pirates will destroy the world and the whole universe will
be taken by pirates. yarrrrrr!!!

Everything will be wireless (even power).
Computers are a part of you, your body or your clothes. The
display is a pair of glasses where there is a little laser
in each side of them, shooting the image directly into your
eye so you get a kind of 'full screen picture' directly on
your eye. There will be no picture-frame, and you will feel
one with the computer.
Illegal files will be outlawed in such way that a whole new
non-commercial "internet" broke free. Here information is
free, but still prosecuted by RIAA as they try to point the
finger.
Genetically changed humans will be more a reality than a
tabu. Sickness will stop to exist, and the government will
have the dilemma of extreme overpopulation.
Public transport and cars will almost stop existing when
internet becomes our real world.

I dont think the world is going to be in such a mess as Sci
Fi movies lead us to beleive.

I think a huge chunk of humans are gonna die, but the more
people who die the better the environment will get and shit.
So like if WW3 breaks out Im thinking it would for the best.

A genetically modified virus could easily wipe us all out
any time from now - Pestinance is getting dangerously close
these days!

I've always had this idea that there'll be an incredibly
realistic virtual reality device and it'll probably be
banned cos of people losing touch with reality and not
wanting to leave and getting fuked up doing warped things in
these virtual game things... Then it'll mix with drug
culture and go underground and kids'll be taking some new
designer drug hallucinogen type thing and tripping in these
fuked up virtual worlds with their mates all living out
bazzar fantasies and only ever entering 'reality' to score
more drugs and eat junk food - Your mind would get warped in
no time - You'd come to think of the VR world as the only
real world and everyday life would be like a desparate dream
state that you just wanna get out of as quick as
possible...

The state of mind to embrace that world is already
enveloping us - 1 in 10 japanese teens-early20's has
Hikikomori - Which means they NEVER leave their bedroom -
They just play Playstation 24/7 - Don't see anyone EVER -
Don't even leave to eat - Shit out the window - Well maybe
they go to the bathroom, but that's IT - 1 in 10! That's
bad! It's a sign of what happens when society speeds up
faster than we can deal with...

Have you seen "Equilibrium"? Criminally underatted film with
excellent fight scenes. Stars Sean Bean and Christian Bale.

It has a nice retro styling to it, despite being set in the
future. Not unlike Gattaca...

J Swift:
Hmm, the mindset of thinking of the virtual world as the
real isn't that far off... I'm sure I'm not the only one who
upon becoming engrossed in a new game finds dealing with the
neccessities of life a distraction. Answering the phone,
going to the toilet, even eating and drinking are things you
are reluctant to do.

possible future: who knows

i don't know how the future will turn out, one thing i know
for sure is it will be different. we will be streamlined
into genderless bodies serving the function of reproducing
and continuing our mentality and its evolution rather than
our physical continuance. old systems will fall, some will
only seem to change but stay the same. society will become
seamlessy intergrated, no boundaries or layers, just a great
pool of a like species striving for a common existence. we
will continue to get closer to true world peace. this is an
illusion though, because peace is not possible in an
existence that is protected by ending another's existence.
the basic instincts we operate on, and sadly are slave to,
requires the purposefull domination of another, wether it be
another species or the same. this will bother our highly
advanced people in the future, they will be discontent and
will eventually legalize human cloning. this process will
lead to a perfected art of removing our ancestorial
instincts from our dna pool thus generating a new breed of
human. this human knows hate and fear, they are important
balancing constructs of our psyche, but we will no longer
feel the urge or desire to exercise these things. priorities
will change. we will change with them. as time
passes and we begin seeing positive results of our societies
change, we will begin planning for the continuation of our
species in the case of the planet being under threat of
comet-hail, etc. this will lead us to using our cloning and
gene-design&construction skills to begin a (backup) species
so to speak on anoher planet, leaving them with hints&clues
that will cause them to wonder where they came from. the
reason they left little hints, is because the advanced
breed, the future us, knows that once you discover all for
what it really is, existence itself and the drive for life
seems to loose its reason. this
brings us back to our current state, we are right now in
2003 a backup species created by a more advanced ve

...version of us, they left the hint, the great question
mark to discover our source, because that is the true
meaning to life, to continually move, experience, learn,
love, to feel alive, because there really is nothing else
out there.

Yah, and notice how the arms are longer than the legs? And
how one leg is shorter than the other? That means we'll all
be living in trees soon, swinging from branch to branch,
like baboons, trust me. Haha:)

No seriously I think everything will be allright. There
might be a large catastrophe soon but in the long run the
long downhill that we're in right now will turn upwards.
It's statistically quite probable:)

wow, this is quite some feedback =)

there are some things i sorta came up with, but i haven't
thought of a particular setting on a universal scale.

1) "blooming" buildings - structures capable of physically
rising up out of the ground and back down in cycles. i guess
they could also be called "living skyscrapers."

2) mini-UAV security - small robotic UAVs (Unmanned Aerial
Vehicle) that'll patrol cities and track down the nearest
disturbances and alert security personnel or even apprehend
suspects on their own.

3) lethal weapons banned and obsolete; stunguns and other
non-lethal weapons replace them.

4) ion dye pen - special pen that can write on surfaces
without physical contact, enabling users to write from a
distance.

5) genetic data used as code in special computers.

6) "designer babies" widespread; genetic illnesses aborted.

just to name a few..
