Awesome, especially the Fox Masks part... Up in Flames is
defintely one of the best albums of 2003.

Whoa. Happy Cycling, I was at this show as well. I'm glad
someone brought this thread up. Maybe if you wear a Happy
Cycling t-shirt to concerts, we'll end up meeting at some
point.

so, what did you think of the show? what kind of music is he
(they?) playing? does it sound more electronic or more
rockish?

offline kc from Vancouver (Canada) on 2004-05-03 01:58 [#01170676]

Hard to say, really. Many of the songs are driven by guitars
but his previous album was very electronic. I can't really
answer for HC, but I absolutely loved the show. It was very
uplifting, actually. They had homemade videos to go along
with each of the songs, and they looked like children's
drawings. It was all very happy and fun to watch.

So, if you want a nice, positive album to listen to, with a
combination of synths and guitars and 60's melodies, check
out Up In Flames.

My top picks are:
I've lived on a dirt road all my life
Crayon
Every time she turns around, it's her birthday

i have both albums and the ep (single?)...i don't like up in

You don't like up in flames? :O
The show is pretty much up in flames done live, but maybe
it'll make you appreciate it more. If not, it's not like the
tickets are expensive :)

offline tolstoyed from the ocean on 2004-05-03 03:41 [#01170724]

i just gave it another listen last night, and well, i think
it's pretty boring...but at the time "start breaking my
heart" was released i wasn't listening to anything else...
hmm, maybe it will be different, cuz i kind of doubt he will
have the band with him...so maybe it could be a bit more
electronica oriented...
anyway, as you say, it can't hurt and the tickets are cheap
:)

yo,saw manitoba at leeds festival '03 and thought they were
supercool..ace presence with those masks and stuff & bands
with drummersX2 always go down well with me :-)

subsequently got "up in flames" and thought it was cool,
nicely produced, but didn't hold my attention for very long.
the live performance is defo more interesting (in my
opinion!)
