50 Cent or Sean Paul, fucking typical.

I don't like the fucking cunt that wrrote that. Kids don't
like it? Shocking and why because they know nothing but 50
Cent or Sean Paul because that is all they have hearrd. The
same way we don't like to taste something unusual on ourr
sunday dinerr afterr yearrs of having the same thing.

Or possibly because the only time Radiohead will create an
emotional response is after you have experienced angst of
some sort and they are too young.

Hahaha, oh my God... great stuff! I love watching children's
reactions to ''unconventional'' music, I was listening to
Confield with a bunch of 7-11 year olds a while back and it
was a riot.

I've play all kinds of weird shit around my nephew before
(he's now 3), he just waits for the fast and loud bits and
then starts jumping around. You could call it interpretive
dance..

Little kids ENJOY this crazy stuff!

Until they realize it won't make them cool.

lyrical flows) but she sure dances hard and grins like a
beeyatch. God bless ye chloe metcalfe

I was playing Music has the right to Children for my
8 year old neice and she loved it.

Didn't really care for Aphex though.

Well it depends what kind of Aphex you play her. I reckon
she'd dig Melodies from Mars or AB5, but be bored stiff by
Caustic Window.

do we get music different as we get older?
i pretty much doubt a 12 year old could get afx the same way
a 25 gets it...i cant say why i think this, perhaps its just
that a 25 year old would be more experienced, know more
music...but also get it different emotionally...

is there a difference in how 12 or 25 year old gets music?

offline ecnadniarb on 2003-09-21 17:26 [#00872533]
Points: 24805 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

Yes, of course...One of the best examples is the new LFO
stuff. A twelve year old would think it is shite for a
different reason I would.

offline ecnadniarb on 2003-09-21 17:28 [#00872539]
Points: 24805 Status: Lurker | Show recordbag

I am joking by the way. A lot of music I listen to is the
old feeling beginning with nos but I can't spell it. Like
the new LFO stuff...it is kind of updated traditional, gives
me a good feeling. A 12 year old wouldn't get that feeling,
but would like it for different reasons.

Nostalgia I think is how you spell the work beginning with
Nos.

Give "Kind of Blue" to 99% of 12-year old kids, they will
think it's pure shit. Only a few will understand Miles
Davis' masterpiece. When I was 12, I did have a vast
appreciation of music but it was because I heard a lot of
it, by my parents and on radio. Kids today for the most
don't choose to do that, because it's too demanding and
makes them look uncool.

It's much different when they are 25 years old. The number
goes down to 80% who think it's shit :) :(

Same applies for electronic music.

"i'm gonna burn fingerbib for my 4 month old nephew, maybe
just get him the whole rdj-album "

That's a great idea, especially for Milkman and the whole
oedipal concept!! ;-D

5th graders are far to old for this. if you think nobody
hears radiohead on the radio....well.....you're an idiot
because they are the biggest band on the face of the earth
-- even eleven year olds arent immune to that.

... my lil brother (7 years old) has an aphex twin cd i made
for him (fingerbib, iz us, powerpill pacman) and he actually
likes it ...

When Thom Yorke's famously tortured croon first surfaces,
the whole room starts giggling.

Giggling.

:)

it takes a certain degree of patience and wordliness to
enjoy instrumental music.. i don't think there're many 5th
graders who would appreciate it like you do
