How do you feel about people recording/filming concerts, then turning around and selling copies on ebay?
Personally, I think it's scummy and I'll crusade til the end to stop them!

Yeah, there are trading communities. Some people don't know any better and are willing to blow money on these bootlegs. Then again, people who don't have anything to trade are lucky if they can find people willing to do B+P (blanks + postage).

exactly. not everryone can get to shows etc... i see the 'its wrrong selling them forr prrofit thing' but so what if someone whats to pay, it is not like getting a frree album. they would still have to go to the shop to get the album with the prroperr rrecorrding on anyway.

The thing is, certain bands are cool with audience taping, so long as the shows aren't sold for profit. If people flood ebay with bootlegs, eventually the band will get fed up and not allow it. That sucks. I for one don't mind trading with people, and I've even given people copies for miniscule amounts of money just to cover my costs. One guy from Turkey, I made copies of 14 shows, totalling 24 disks, and sent them to him for $20. This is a guy who I emailed through ebay who was bidding $20 for one show. Man, there are crooks out there.

ween (especially) and primus are pretty cool with bootlegging, as long as yer equipment doesn't cause a visual obstruction.

primus has some nice bootlegs - i don't mind bootlegs personally. if someone sells a bootleg of me performing one day, fine - not everyone can get to fort worth to see me - if i ever have a live show within the next few months.

i can see covering for the cost of disc and maybe printed art, that's fine. but don't charge $40 for a 1 hour show. that's messed up.
actually, i'm planning on doing a documentary on people's positions on the whole RIAA/downloadin' thing. i'll post more if anyone is interested in a phone/written interview for audio on my documentary.

I bought a prodigy bootleg yesterday, it'd be great if there wasn't some not talent mc talking all over it, it truly does wreck it, there's a song or two where he doesn't talk, and they are awesome
