erm, actually some chems stuff does sound a bit aphexy (certainly rephlexy) and the do share influence and probably a lot of common equipment.
The helston flora remix of normal sounds like stuff from dig your own hole and a few tracks sample the same breaks from what i can tell.
I am not saying they are the same but there is some overlap between what they make and like: the dynamix 2 compilation on rephlex was has a similar feel to a lot of the chems stuff.
I know afx hates the crystal method saying they are the poor man's chemical brothers, so erm he likes em more than (or despises them less than) the crystal method
i know i have opened up a can of worms...

The problem with them is they are so fucking corny. Like Fatboy Slim, just loads of cheesey. That said, their first record as The Dust Brothers isn't bad at all, it's pretty much gone downhill from there.
