Loopz,

Those are quite big name artists. You gonna loose money
aren't you? How much did Mike P, V Snares, k-formation
mike in mono (ex-plone) and
frog pocket cost? Must be running into 2k surely? You'd have
to get at least 300 odd people into the venue just to cover
costs? How are you going to achieve that or are you just
mad? Its seems a possible number, only just, but surely this
is an exercise in ego stroking, nothing more. Can't be any
benefit for you. Please enlighten me Loopz whats in it for
you? There has to be some logic.

Hey Loopz don't get me wrong its a great line-up but I'm
just questioning the sanity in what your doing. I reckon its
gonna probably cost more like £3k but as I say I'd like to
be enlightened. Whats the score how do plan to cover costs
'cause lets even forget about making a profit. I'm really
interested please let me know. Whats the set up here?

dont panic - we wont be down for sure. We have been
fortunate for this night and we are already planing one in
late November/early December and next year.

We held one a few months ago and had Magnetaphone etc
playing and the Brum Creative have been around since 1999 so
you can imagine we know when to panic.

also this is nothing to do with ego stroking. we just want
to host a good party in our town. Bring more good music back
to Birmingham.

Loopz,

Thanks for that but you completely failed to answer my
question. Are you going to make a loss? That is the
question. It is about ego stroking if there is nothing in it
for you. Because you're going to all that effort setting up
the party etc and paying 3k odd in fees to the artists and
getting nothing out of it. The only good party thats been
had is by the artists who are playing and its all on you. I
just don't get it why go to all that effort and pay U-Ziq
and Venetian Snares exbortant fees and get nothing back. If
thats not the case let me know because I really want to
know. If they want to play let me them do it. Let them carry
the can if there is nothing in it for you. If you don't
answer I'll take it that you're either planning to take a
bath over this 'good party' that you're running or you have
no interest in getting anything out of it.

hmm, i'd pay that money to see these artist playing in my
town, tho there would be more expenses for all the
arrangements...and i was pretty sure they charge much more

tolstoyed,

Well you're nuts. Sad. That is just so sad. Have you no self
respect? People don't respect you if you have no purpose
other than to run around like a blue arse fly making all
that effort and getting nothing back for it. You think U-Ziq
and V Snares give a turd that you would have put on a party
to spread the gospel? I don't think so, they'd say "thank
you very much for my fee and nice to know you you sad
loser". You only get respect when you do something seriously
and with a serious purpose in mind. Yes its fun to do but
you wouldn't catch me doing something like that without some
way of making a profit or a reasonable return from it. As
far as I'm concerned any artist can go take a flying jump if
he/she expects me to take a big loss just to put him/her on.
Forget it!

Too add to my comments I'd say let the given artist organise
it if they are so keen to play live. They're all to keen to
have some dumb mug (some ignorant fan) organise a party for
them and completely carry the can (costs, time and effort).
There are a lot of losers around at the moment running silly
parties with massive line-ups and quite frankly getting
nothing out of it. What it does is leads the artists to
think that there doesn't have to be any economic logic in
running a party and that effectively someone will put all
the time and effort in to running a party for free.

well, the thing is (braindance) music scene here is...well
there isnt one
i remember last year when rephlex was touring in europe,
they could have easily stoped here as they were passing from
the gig in austria to the gig in italy close to my city, but
since no promoters seem to be interested in braindance no
one ever comes, because of this i'd be pretty interested to
bring someone here, at least to see the response and to
start something going...the thing is the nearest club i can
go to and listen to music i like is about a 3 hour drive
from here and im spending lots of money runing around europe
and trying to see some acts
"they'd say "thank you very much for my fee and nice to know
you you sad
loser" "
what do i care, if thats the waaay they see it i dont mind
as long as they provide good show, and btw if that about 3k
is real it is not expensive at all as our local techno dj's
dont charge much less

anyway i dont have any experince in how these things work,
so i better not say too much
perhaps i'll try and do something in the next
years...hopefully

Well you have no self respect as I said. I have no respect
for your either if you are just prepared to be used like
that.

so you're saying if you were me you'd be rather spending
money on gas, hotels...
perhaps it is different in the uk, where you have a great
party almost every week

maybe some people just enjoy throwing massive party with
cool acts, just a thought ya know.
it's not often u get a line-up like that outside of london,
i think if i had an opportunity to throw a bash like that up
in the north-west then i would

Promo wrote "Thanks for that but you completely failed to

question. Are you going to make a loss? "

how on earth can i answer that ? Its like saying are you
going to win some money one day! I can tell your
presumptions are totally incorrect and the last thing i
would do is answer your questions about costs.

as for the "They're all to keen to
have some dumb mug (some ignorant fan) organise a party for

them and completely carry the can (costs, time and effort).
" comment!!!

I for one aint no dumb mug or ignorant fan. I actually dont
play much Venetian Snares but some of the other lads with
the Brumcreative like him. so why not!

I think maybe Mr Promo you need to look into what these
nights are about instead of just seeing things in your own
linear view. no offence like but you are very negative about
something that should be enjoyed.

SpaceCadet - spot on! :)
