zetre on 2001-11-10 22:24 [#00050283]

It sounds the same as any music you ever heard

Is this true? from on now on 2001-11-10 23:31 [#00050309]

I seriously hope this Gemma person is a joke.

Is this true? from on now on 2001-11-10 23:34 [#00050313]

"Garage" is just a way to sell a style/fusion of old two
step jungle (slowed down) and oldskool created by nicky
black market to sell more records at his shop. Black Market
Records

zetre on 2001-11-10 23:38 [#00050316]

no it´s not

MF from on drugs and going on 2001-11-10 23:58 [#00050334]

it is! it's a marketing ploy reselling recyling etc

Earface from the ever fleeting past on 2001-11-11 03:18 [#00050360]

Garage is just like some Drum n' Bass that someone has tried
their best to make sound like utter shite. I want to sell
T-shirts with blood stains on that say: "I just shot Craig
David in the face".
God, I wish I COULD shoot Craig David in the face - and then
those Solid Crew cocksuckers.

Naphex-Male from Vancouver, Canada on 2001-11-11 06:32 [#00050411]

The Battle - Wookie
tracks by MJ Cole.........

MF on 2001-11-11 22:10 [#00050693]

I hate the So solid poo

Dresen from Winchester, England on 2001-11-11 22:13 [#00050696]

Garage started off with stuff like Basement Jaxx, who are
IMO not toooo bad for a poppy kinda getup. Then it melded
with singy-type crapola-making man Craig David with...what
were they called...Artful Dodger. Then it just went
completely bollocksey-tits-up when So Solid Crew and so
forth joined in the partay and it basically became an even
shitter British version of R&B.

Garage...BOO!! (Not Bo) Don't listen to it! Bad child!

Henry Rodrick from Sweden on 2001-11-11 22:14 [#00050698]

Garage is boooooooooring!!!

I cant imagine the combination Aphex Twin and uk garage :)

SpaZpheX from PAlAcIlsuRRounDSouND on 2001-11-11 22:16 [#00050700]

Shivering little sickly small weedy dog. That's whot this
music says to me. With chunky and tasteless gold jewellery.

Quadrapelegicrobotikev from mp3.com/quadrapelegicrobotik on 2001-11-11 23:52 [#00050756]

wow, garage does not sound like a good style of noise

Naphex-Male from Vancouver, B.C. Canada on 2001-11-12 00:39 [#00050779]

The latest Basement Jaxx is good you morons! There is a
track on there which has a Gary Numan sample in it....it
smokes! Fuck Ya'll!

cockeater on 2001-11-12 01:13 [#00050783]

Are you talking about 'where's your head at'? The video for
that is as great as the Come To Daddy video. You stupid
fucking idiot.

Loogie from UK on 2001-11-12 01:29 [#00050786]

The Ones - Flawless
Bel Amour - Bel Amour

Dresen from Winchester, England on 2001-11-12 10:29 [#00050921]

I said Basement Jaxx were good, fools! Well, I said they
were okay. And they are! It's new Garage which like suxx0r.

Fernz on 2001-11-12 15:07 [#00050994]

All garage sounds the same to me, man. MY RED HOT CAR by
Squarepusher sounds like he's taking the piss outa it if you
ask me. ;)

SpaZpheX from PAlAcIlsuRRounDSouND on 2001-11-12 15:26 [#00051003]

Basement Jaxx Rooty is great, BUT THEY ARE NOT GARAGE.
Garage is like yer So Solid Crew, Craig David and stuff that
yer top pop stars are hurrying to rip off as soon as they
can.

Rosie from London on 2001-11-12 16:10 [#00051033]

isn't Craig David kinda like a bunch of arse?

Chrispy from UK on 2001-11-12 16:13 [#00051038]

with a goatie

SpaZpheX from PAlAcIlsuRRounDSouND on 2001-11-12 16:22 [#00051051]

Yeah. Sounds permanently bored, as you would be if you had
to listen to him all the time. He's a dick.

Dresen from Winchester, England on 2001-11-12 17:02 [#00051084]

Like I said, Basement Jaxx are what Garage was. They called
themselves Garage. Then it changed; I dunno what they call
themselves now. Myabe they still do as a gesture of
defiance.

Also, Craig David is a fucknugget and I have proof. When
asked in an interview what the new English National Anthem
should be, he said "My 'Walking Away', because there's
something in it for everyone."

I like to think it's a message to walk away from his
'music', personally.

Naphex-Male from Vancouver, Canada on 2001-11-13 23:33 [#00051668]

cockeater: I will remove you from existence while you
sleep.
Ya I was talking about "Where's Your Head At"...at the time
I couldn't remember the name of the tune and excuse me for
not knowing about the video...I have not had cable tv for a
while. So if you want to, you can suck me off...or maybe you
could board-up your bedroom door and stay in it and
unsuccessfully try to suck your own dangling
unfortunates.....bah arsehool!

"Never Gonna Let You Go" is meant to be the first 2step
track 'cause it goes boomdatboomboomboomdat instead of just
boomdatboomdatboomdatboomdat.

This was from 2001. That was pre-Grime and hence before it
was publicly acceptable to admit you like 2 step on an IDM
board. Nowadays you have to claim you liked it since 1998,
before it became all overground and shit.

For the record: There isn't much garage I like, but there's
a lot of Grime that I do.

Well, at least no-one can say that the board has never been
worse than it is today.

I know, but it goes to show you that IDM heads hate anything
that might be considered "girly". Hence toughguy amen break
Remarc style d'n'b being a much bigger influence on
electronica than 2step (which is a lot harder to make than
straight up jungle).

I hate you because I consider you "girly". Plus you don't
have a fucking clue what you are talking about.

2step isn't a lot harder to make than straight up jungle.
That's just a stupid comment.

Depends. Anyone can chop up an amen break, at least you have
to actually program a pattern in 2step.
Not that I'm saying how hard it is to make a track relates
to how good it is, but if nerds wanna look down their nose
at this music, they should at least consider the technical
side.
The thing about a lot of 2step tracks is that you have to
have every element in a track working together as a groove.
If one part drops out, then the rest of the track doesn't
feel right. Of course this sparseness is sometimes used for
effect.
Btw, there are a lot of great jungle producers, but I don't
see how 2step is less worthy.
