Orange Dust - Squall
Me doing the Prefuse kind of thing with vocal cuts, but less
hiphop, more glitch ...I guess. Warm pads, glitches, voc
samples.
10 points for the person who figures out which one os my
fave sample and can identify it (lolol)

xfa03.mp3
little tune I did last night, cool percussion loop, toying
with the idea of extending this into a proper tune. also
thinking about changing the bass sound a little.
s'cool though

Good stuff, squall is pretty good...you are very good at
making songs i have noticed. By that i mean you get your
structure spot on, something I still can't manage properly
:(

xfa didn't do all that much for me although I can see
development potential in it.

allowed to go on MBs coz it kind of looks liek work to
customers whoi can't see thios side of my monitor hehe).

Ha ha - I'm digging this Squall. I dig the rhythm - it
sounds almost new wave with some glitch and trip-hop
influence. Really good melodies too. I like the drilling
bits too. Good stuff man. Well done.

Zeus - I just expect people to listen in return when i
listen to their music. Is that too much to ask?

that's not the 10 points sample!

BUT yeah that sample is adrock from a track on check your
head - it's the same "now i want you to move it - pick a
point on the floor and just groove it" sample also used in a
track caled disaster money I did a while ago - but I cut it
up for this one.

hmmm.... guessing the sample.... the really high melody that
kicks in at about 1:58 - sounds like something i've heard
before, but i can't put my finger on it - i think i've heard
it in something dr. dre produced..... though i'm most likely
wrong.

ok ok I'll let you in - it's the HUNTER THOMPSON CUT OMGOM
GOMG

"(scratch scratch) TELL ME ABOUT THE FUCKING...."

from the TELL ME ABOUT THE FUCKING GOLF SHOES bit when
they're in the bar, right before the middle of the track's
mellow bit. LOL.
I spose you have to know how much I love that movie first
:):)

everyone - cheers for listening! I wanted those pads really
warmish coz people always tellin' em I make awkward melodies
and no warm stuff

squall = TASTY goodies.

xfa = EVEN TASTIER.

damn, guy. seriously, for really reals. this is the best
stuff you've done in the last little while, i do believe.
and i think xfa deserves to be at LEAST twice as long. very
well done, friend. =]

thankyou very much homez!

I'll try and extend xfa03 (that's literally the .flp
filename on my computer haha couldn't be fucked making a
title) tonight.

Squall was orioginally made in like april or march, I just
finished it the other night. I thought it sounded a little
too samey to fniish, but I ended up going "What the hell why
not" and finishing it off (badly) last night.

Really glad you like them, cheers :D

i'd like to come to pleth and just watch over your shoulder
and see exactly how all this is done. seriously. and
actually, with a number of people from this board. i'm
curious as to how everyone goes about making their music.
hmm.

I wouldn't mind that at all.
One of my mates is starting making dnb, but he wants em to
show him how to use FL (he knwos the basics, he started same
time as me, but he stopped and i didn't) but I have to show
him on HIS getup, which is really hard - his monitor is
always set too dark to see playlist grid etc, and all his
sample folder structures are alien to me...

It'd be cool do see how a lot of people make tracks - some
peopel have a lot of structure. I totally don't haha.

Squall - very nice.. i can see the prefuse influence in
there a bit, but it's still got an original style. i like
the cutup vocals, and old school-kinda-vibe with the synth
that comes in at about 2:00, and the melodic part that comes
in at about 1:13.. nice stuff ya got here. this isn't so
much my style, but it's still good, and you've got talent,
keep it up.

xfa03 sounds very promising, definitely worthy of extending
into a complete track.

squall for the first minute and a half i thought was ok but
not my style (sounds like you're actually playing a slide
flute a minute in!); it has a reverence, i think, for the
eighties in some sounds, and actually ends up sounding like
something plaid might have done. it really starts cooking
close to two minutes in, great rhythmic sense, busy but
uncluttered. while still not so much my style, very
impressive.

the only other track of yours i've heard is "exceed data
purge," and i definitely hear a lot of growth in these more
recent works.

thanks dudes!

glitch stuff is still kind of new to me, usually I do a lot
of acid cut ups tracks and drill shit.
so it's a whole new world for me. Lots of stuff to
experiment with texturally

Oddioblender - return of kung foo robots (trk3)

Nice drum fuckery. cool synth sound, haha this is the kind
of sound I used to get all the time with the MDA combo
distortion over detuned saw waves I think. I like the energy
in this tune.

could use a little drum programing variation and a bit of a
bassline to even the EQ out a bit (I think it's sposed to be
a rule that most of the bass ina atune should be fro the
bassline with little punches of bass from the bassdrum)

nice backwards bits, that's totally cool

the track could use some more sounds, like the synth and
drums are cool, but it could use another synth line and some
changeups, esp since it's like verging on 6 mins long.

Not too bad though

Xfa03 sounds very nice. It's nice to hear some good clean
melodies once in while. The other one I kinda lost interest
in quite fast.

It's funny how after just listening through Blech 2, both
these would fit in and I wouldn't notice :)
