Ohhhhhhhhh fuck. I have classes every day from 9AM to 4PM.
That's just lame. But I might be able to catch it in
snippets in class, I don't plan on working too hard anyway.

Oh wait, I didn't factor in the time difference, I may be
able to catch the last half hour or so as well. That's not
as tragic.

the station is afraid to place me at 10pm or after because
they know i'll exercise my right to air songs with profanity
(the FCC says it's ok after 10pm, and they know that i know
that because i've done it before)

i just got back from my first radio class

did you have to start off doing rotation play before you got
a specialty show?

i just stopped playing rotation tracks midway through my 2nd
semester because the choices were ridiculous and the staff
dj's don't really follow the rule anyway. so depending on
the station you can get away with not playing their crap.

some people get to do specialty shows right off the bat at
our station (very few), but i guess if you do rotation for a
while to prove yourself or what ever you can do your own
shit. the station manager seemed pretty cool though, he had
abunch of misfits stickers in his office. and he had
multiple piercings

it is

anyway, if it's obvious the rotation music doesn't fit in
with what you play (i assume you get to pick some if not
most of your own music?) then don't play it.. they'll
understand

offline roygbivcore from Joyrex.com, of course! on 2003-09-08 21:03 [#00855500]

i'm not really sure how it works yet, we mostly went through
an over view. i'm definately going to poison the air waves
at least a little

I thought college radio didn't give a shit?

KWVA around here doesn't seem to care. There are rules and
such, but ain't no rotation for anything.

My friends have a rock radio show, and they can't "Suggest"
anyone go to a show.

SO you can't say "Hey, Band XYZ is playing tonight, go check
it out"

you have to say "you might be interested in........."

oh well, good on you tits, that is 11am my time, but I don't
have class till 3pm wednesdays it seems, so I'll stream it
when I can.

the cd's dj's are supposed to play songs from are just
suggestions, but here they really want people to play 2
heavy rotation cd tracks an hour.. cos they think their
taste in music is so great (and it's generally not).

offline BlatantEcho from All over (United States) on 2003-09-08 21:27 [#00855510]

so what does that get anyone if play a couple of tracks more
than others?

I hope they don't want people to listen to a college radio
station because they repeat a decent song like corporate
radio.

i was wondering what OOP ment

i'm sad you don't have any bogdan

and that a fucking country music banner comes up right in
the middle of the list

yea that's something new tripod's doing, i haven't figured
out yet how to prevent that if it's possible

bogdan needs to work on his quality control.. when he puts
an album out as consistent as go plastic or wasted sunday
i'll get it

OOP = Out Of Print

blatant it's about uniformity, not so much conformity.. i
guess they think they're helping to support quality
underground artists but with my station they pick stuff as
popular as no doubt and foo fighters

I always expect the greatest strength of a college radio
station lies in its diversity.

I see what they might mean, but I'm glad your there to fight
back a bit.

don't take any shit from anyone
