yeah cos his huge audience accidentsally buy his music thinking it's donna summer and don't have the choice to take it back -
also the audience are duped into coming to his small time gigs in tiny bars and clubs - thinking that the real donna summer has really had to rough it nowdays .
titsworth you're so stupid and bitter you make me laugh sometimes - your'e attitudes are very naive and pseudo riighteous "citizen smith" style commie it's almost as if you are performing a sly spoof .
you treat people as if they don't have the choice - and you treat tiny little artists with the same objectifying industries.
You generally behave like an extremley bitter young man who claims to really like the sub culture he involves himself in but on so many levels seems to detest and begrudge it - let alone assume some kind of moral superiority to it
and now your're going to aimlessly parrot fashion my arguments back to me as you did last time ...

he may be a nice guy and his music may be good (i think it's ok at best), but nonetheless he's still capitalizing on a superior artist's name, like it or not (astrid eat a dick)

SORY i mean't to say you treat tiny little artists with the same objectifying sense you treat multi billion dollar industries.
another thing is when are the two donna summers prospective buyers meant to overlap - certainly not in the major chain stores as donna summer idm - probably won't get in there and donna summer soul/disco will be in the soul disco section - so it's unlikey the twain will ever meet.
as for the idea of capitalising on another artists name - he's never associated himself with the 70's disco diva artistically or commercially and he's unlikey to have any effect on prospective buyers of the now retired diva's music so once again you are very very confused.

i'm sure it backfires on him a lot, just like The The or !!! .. but what i was saying was that he picked the name for attention, since it's a whole lot easier for journalists to get into someone who picked the same name as a world famous and respected disco singer than someone named robert or diamondpusher or whatever. obviously i wasn't implying that he wants disco fans to accidentally buy his music or go to his concerts, that's ridiculous. .. i advise you to go to allmusic.com, it's easier than getting info on him via google

so what?
what's wrong with having a silly name to attract attention? that's all it is - it just attracts attention and most people will dislike the music and that's that.
I could understand it if The Real DS was still a hot thing, but she is not.
sounds to me like you're reading more into this then there's actually there.

methinks everyone is reading more into this than there is.
i believe titsworth was saying that he didn't like the guy's music, and that in his opinion the only reason he gets attention is that he uses a gimic to attract it. in this case his gimic is that he uses a name that's already been made famous by someone else.
of course, a few things must be made clear here;
#1) i don't have a clue who this guy is let alone have i heard his muzak
#2) i'm putting words into peoples mouths with consulting them
c) huh?

maybe so, but within the tiny 'idm-world' or what you might call it, if the music is crap, it still won't sell.

nothing wrong with a silly name to attract attention but i simply find it lame whenever an artist - ANY ARTIST - uses the name of another, real (musical) artist as or as part of their own name to help build their career, which DS is undeniably doing here. it's a bitch to defend myself all the time but i'm so glad i speak up for my differing opinions.
similar example: the chemical brothers started as the dust brothers, literally taking the name of their idols until they were told to change it.

Who cares, the music is enough of an attention grabber.
He continually supports lots of unknown folks and his radio show rocks.

The dude's a fucking DADDY!
His radio shows fucking rinse it, and the guy himself is a fucking don!
Listen, if you slag him off, you know fuck all about hardcore/mashcore/fucked electro/etc..etc.etc.
Live, he owns. On disc, he owns. Basically, you need to donate your sperm and ovaries to this guy.
