Japanese cinema is great, I just got introduced to it by "Ichi The Killer," which I loved (and it made by the same director of "Battle Royale," I believe). It definitely is fucked up how some hentai and things can be, but just don't let it get to you, I guess. There are sick people out there, but its not because of the media. |

A lot of japanese people get really sick in the head because (and I know this is a MASSIVE generalisation so I'm sorry) they can be under a lot of pressure to lead a productive life, they have to work hard because there is an insane amount of competition in whatever they do, so in their private life sometimes they go completely overboard. i read a story in the washington post a little over two weeks ago about a growing problem in japan. people on-line making suicide packs.....then meeting and killing themselves together! it was such a scary idea, but apparently they don't wanna kill themselves on their own so they search out 'other's' of like mind to join them. i'm not 100% (the stats are prolly on-line somewhere) but i think japan has one of the highest suicides rates in the world. OD you're right, the pressure to succeed there is like no other place in the world. tis sad that so many people live only to work.....thinking that = success =/ i am happy to say i didn't even know what hentai was, until today....it's a subject i think i'll pass on for sure tho.... |
