Porcupine Tree

Please buy any album of theirs. It's the only music that
both amazes me on a technical level and makes me cry. The
musicianship, production, even lyrics...all amazing.

Any Porcupine Tree fans here???

Voyage 34 always a winner... The earlier stuff (Up the Down
Stair, On the Sunday of Life, Voyage 34, etc) is the better
stuff. The later stuff is a bit wishy washy. Saw them live
and they were good, but a bit proggy. Didn't help that there
was only about a dozen people there. They probably played
their crappy stuff just to spite us :D

I don't know why they aren't more well-known. It's so
depressing.

Best album, imo, is "in Absentia".

Only heard one song on MTV 2 late at night, and thought it
was cool. Remembered them for having an interesting name.

Yeah I remember them by name. Don't think I've heard them.
Or maybe I have. Perhaps I have I can't remember. Suppose to
be a bit like Ozrics. Or the poor man's Ozrics at least.

man of taste!
they are the best band no-ones heard of .
i got hooked mid-last year, i had lightbulb sun for a little
while and i then chanced across most of their back catalogue
in a music exchange shop and the rest is history - i own
almost every cd now i think . the new stuff is great as is
the older stuff , its great that they can evolve musically
and still have such a high standard of music!

Interesting. Might need to check them out. Certainly a
British band with British following. No one in the States
seems to have ever heard of them. Lol.

Please do check them out. If you want intelligent,
accomplished, emmotionally charged music then you can't go
wrong with them. :)

i'm dling them right now........ i was expecting electronic

but this is quite good, i agree i don't know why they aren't
as known as they shoudl be.

kind of reminds me of the new opeth has anyone heard it???
it's allllll toned down melodic stuff - no more screaming.

the reason it reminds you of opeth is cos brian wilson (aka
the man behind porcupine tree) produced the last opeth album
. i got it and it certainly is mellow - dunno if it will
stand up to repeated listening ltho

I need to check them out again. They were recommended to me
like 6 or 7 years ago or something. I recall them being like
Ozrics. I must check them. Sounds promising.

yeah he produced new Opeth. I personally prefer their new
sound, harder rock (when it's relentlessly hard, at least)
just annoys me. weird, because i can bear hard electronic
drill n bass.

they are marvellous - i have almost all their stuff on
vinyl.. they must have a bit of a following because their
records go for quite good money on ebay and stuff.

Sunday of life is marvellous, as are both the voyage 34
records
