a little delayed, but anyway, the bjork concert in NYC last
friday was the best concert i think i've ever been to. bjork
is in top form performancewise and is putting on such an
entertaining show. think "bjork pyrotechnics" is an
oxymoron? i thought so too, but they were used to really
beautiful effect during joga, pluto, and another track.
also, since it was coney island, there were fireworks in the
background; first before she went on stage, then during 3
songs much later (i believe she arranged these ones, they
weren't the weekly fireworks that go off fridays in coney
island).

the icelandic string octet were great. i've seen it all is
really good w/ no beats, all strings. very avant gard style.
scatterheart was a rare treat as well. she also did the new
song desired constellation.

one of the best parts was a bunch of crazy techno, including
pluto, the soft pink truth remix of it's in our hands, and a
really frenetic version of hyperballad. she rocked out human
behavior and it was over.

basically, see bjork whenever, wherever you can, it's well
worth it. i didn't get to go for free like i almost was able
to, but i paid a lot less than face value for the best
possible tickets and had a really great time.

zeus i HIGHLY advise going to the venue anyway and scooping
up tickets right before the concert starts, or during the
opening act. you can buy them for much less than face value
depending on how good a bargainer you are. for an even $80 i
got 2 tickets that list for $65 each NOT counting
ticketbastard fees. and i could've gotten them even cheaper
than that too but sigur ros had already started (and bonnie
prince billy had already finished :( ) and i wanted to get
inside and enjoy the show.

bjork on the m-i-c
matmos on laptops, electronics, and mics
zeena parkins on harp, accordian, and other live
instruments
icelandic string octet

(no leila)

no photos.. but bjork.com has some in the gigography

her excessively.

they're pricey it's worth it.
I'm pumped for this show on Sunday and I just found out it's
Labor day on Monday so the party will be in full swing.

awesome show, she played a lot of my favourites and one b
side that i absolutely love...

the venue was interesting....fireworks every friday on coney
island through labor day(this from a local), that firework
display happened before bjork came on.....then during the
show, for several songs more fireworks fell from the sky,
i'm sure bjork arrainged those ones tho....=0)

it was hot, and sticky and it was a long time standing, but
worth it!!

her voice is beyond perfect.....if there is such a
thing.....i couldn't believe how amazing she sounded, i'd
love to see her again.....and hope i get another chance
really soon.

have fun xlr and child810 make sure and post a review from
your show !!!

XLR they moved the show just so you know, to the Fleet
Pavillion. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad
thing.

Who knows what they'll do about the seating, first come
first serve would be utter madness.

bjork sang everything perfectly and with so much energy and
power. she's a masterful singer, on the real. and she's so
entertaining to watch, bounding around the stage, and just
making you really believe every word she's singing. and wow
the songs are all so good live. the arrangements are all
totally new for the concert but not so radical that you
don't recognize the song.

You're welcome XLR.

Man I just got back from getting booze for tomorrow.
Considering the price of beer at these events I need to get
a nice buzz on beforehand.

I'm so pumped. I'm watching Live at the Royal Opera House
right now, man oh man!

ill be at the boston show too. from what i've heard, the
fleet pavillion is a better place, though smaller than
suffolk downs.

That show sounds EXACTLY like the one i saw on Roskilde.
Really good, fireworks and all. Second last track was pluto,
and it fucking ruled my world for a couple of minutes!
anyway, i was really spooked sometimes during the concert.
But yeah, really good experience.

ehheheh glad to hear Bjork used pyro's at other
shows......it was NOT at all what i expected to see at a
Bjork show.

she played pluto at our show, but i think her live take of
Human Behavior was most surprising....pyros and all

how was the Boston show !?!??!

I was at the Boston show last night. It was marvelous. The
Yeah Yeah Yeahs opened, and then she came on at around 9:30.
She opened with hunter, then played a good mix of her
classics and some new stuff. Joga, Pagan Poetry, 5 Years,
Bachelorette, All is Full of Love, Isobel were all great.
She had an awesome harp/keyboard player, and a 6-person
string section, plus two guys on computers. There was a
video screen that was used during some songs, and there was
various strange imagery projected upon it.

The finale, Pluto, was intense. Everyone really got into
it. There was a lot more distortion on the final moments of
the song.

For an encore she played a track I didn't recognize, plus
Human Behavior. Most people didn't seem to start dancing
until the latter half of the concert, and by the end
everyone was really getting into it.

All in all, a fine performance by a very gifted and unique
artist. I won't forget it.

the only drawback with my show was we didn't get videos
because it was an outdoor concert(!) and the wind would've
knocked over the screen

i won't forget the show either!!!

yes, the show was amazing, probably the best concert ive
been to (tied with sigur ros)

the security people at the pavillion were assholes though,
one of them came over right in the middle of the show and
harrassed my friend for alleged possesion of a
camera.
that ruined my mood for a few songs.

oh, and the two guys with computers were matmos.

distorted and spooky. Something from the new or what? i'm
not THAT much into björk.... anybody else know anything
about this?

at our show seems like EVERYONE had a digital
camera.....they didn't search too well.

i tried to take a picture with my cell phone but it doesn't
zoom and so it didn't come out too well. what i don't
understand is people CALLING people and having a convo
DURING the freakin' concert.....that drives me insane. i
wanted to K/O a dood who was looking for his friends via
CELL PHONE during the radiohead show.....how annoying is it
to try to be listening to the music while some idiot is
yelling behind you.....saying .....wave your hand.....while
about 1000 people are waving hands and dancing around.
ALMOST ruined my show!!!

freakin idiots !! pardon me but it's getting ridiculous out
there!

he was being a total asshole. he could call to see where his
friends are AFTER the concert is over, OR he could've walked
away so no one had to hear him. seriously, it was complete
silence until he made his phone call to see where his
friends are out of pure curiosity. absolutely obnoxious.

i know, the people with cell phones at concerts are
rediculous.. i happened to look around and notice three
people in my immediate vicinity talking on cell phones
during joga.
it was absurd.
