I've been so into his music the last couple days... well, the cds I have by him anyways... I bought Music for Airports on sunday, and it's pretty cool... gorgeous music, and there's so much space in it... I especially love the first track 1/1, it's amazing... so gorgeous and hypnotic, and very subtle... 1/2, and 2/2 are both killer too!

yes, the first track really is amazing... the piano part is really nice, but the way the synth parts kind of interact with the piano is especially awesome!

I'm feelin' ya on that.
I have no excuse not to own shitloads of Eno because the music shop I most often go to has a fair amount of his most popular stuff, for £5 a pop.

I saw 'Music for Airports' performed live at Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam in 1998(I think). It was a truly ambient affair ie just piped throughout the airport, and rather wonderful.
I could be wrong about the year cos Holland's a bit hazy in places y'know...

Yuppity yup yup yup!
I can't plug this album enough at the moment.
His 'Oblique Strategies' (basically a set of cards with really fucking general advice on them, designed to be selected at random when you have to make a decision) are real nice, too. I think there's a SIG generator version out there somewhere, too...

Also 'Fear of Music'. I think Eno wasn't as involved in that, but it crosses that nervy white punk-funk thing with African rhythms really well.
There are so many fucking bands ripping off that sound at the moment as well.

Eno also worked with Genesis as a keyboardist at some points - though I'm not really a Genesis fan at all.
I also enjoy Music for Films and Ambient6 OnLand. Is it just me or is Ambient6 a bit dark?

Sure you're not on about Roxy Music? I think he maybe produced an album for Genesis though...
I've not heard Ambient 6. His generative music project is kinda pointless. I wasn't really that impressed by the possibilities offered by the software, you could do a lot better in Buzz or something really.

nah man, On Land is Ambient 4... and it's the last officially titled Ambient release... there were only 4 of em...
also, I really think you're mistaken about the genesis connection there... Tony Banks was the keyboardist with Genesis for the whole life of Genesis...
