I remember making a thread about this author many many months ago, which garnered scant attention.
Once more I urge you to pick up his books at your local book-store or online shopping zone, and read them. They are fantastic.

Currently I'm re-reading 'Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said'. It is as excellent as it was the first time I read it.

i've only read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, excelent book... not sure if its better than the film though, its different.
I'm reading The Forever War by Joe Halderman, its excelent so far, can't stop reading it :) You read it?
I was thinking of Getting Ubik by Dick next.

I haven't read any of the Dick stories that were made into big movies. Ubik is good - I would advise starting with his earlier books first, to get into him. His 70s books are different.

I read Androids - obviously - and the Minority Report collection, and I read half of another before I misplaced it. I'm not really into Sci Fi in general, I've read Frank Herbert, Harlan Ellison... err... see, I'm struggling. Anyway, Dick is a decent writer, but I think I need one of his very different, cracking books to spark any real interest on my part.

Don't bother with his collections of short stories. It's not. Read his novels.

Actually I quite liked the MR collection, it was rather generic but good, some of his original ideas were great. I know he wrote some awesome, inspiring stuff so I should get round to it. Oh for an AMG equivelent to books...

I have MANY TIMES looked for a literary equivalent to AMG and IMDB . . . surely it's only a matter of time ?

yes, 'A Scanner Darkly' is very good. His most well-known book is possibly 'The Man in the High Castle'.

I like Asimov a lot. I recently read the Odyssey Quartet of C. Clarke (minus 2001).

My brother had 2010, and I read it. So I bought the other two sequels. Plus, I have 2001 on film, and I know the sequels follow the film more closely, and not the book :)

why would I? I'm bisexual. You think so low of me as to think that I think that gayness is bad? I'm disappointed - I thought you would be my bed-fellow (as long as you didn't talk about how depressed you were)

No I did not think that you thought being gay was bad, I did not even see it as a comment rrelating to sexuality to be honest, just a negative jibe somehow.

i'm not a fan of philip k dick's writing style, but i do find him fascinating as an individual, he was very strange. my favorite book by him was "valis," which was a mixture of fiction and autobiography.
