my new poem r/r

Daddy should have taken me with him
to the dark places; the windless plateaux
obliterating pain and light, fright and sin -
taken me to where peace was the only hymn.

I could have drifted with him there,
secluded in that untouchable haven; landscapes
like dreams: shrouded in mist and nebular, where
time dripped focus like clouds shed watered care.

He would have clutched me then, enclosed
with safety's warmth; the strength of father love
curled around my body like comfort's clothes,
protected me with armed angelic prose.

Daddy should have taught me how
to cope with life and love, but now
I am a man of wasted years;
abandoned like a field unploughed.

my father was kicked out when I was about five years old. I
haven't seen him in twenty years. I guess the poem is about
loss and never getting over something, and it always being
some kind of obstacle to the soul.

that's terrible.. i mean it seems like it would be worse
than never knowing him, than only having faint memories, or
none at all, but knowing that he was in your life at a time,
and not now.. that's really sad..
at least you are expressing your emotions through words
instead of bottling them inside, or expressing them in
negative ways..
you should put this one on your a.p. site if you already
haven't..

i mean it would be worse in your case..
sorry if that was unclear

If you want to even talk to him, is there anyway how you
could contact him ?

Kicked out ? It might help you to understand yourself better
if you knew more about him.

Apparently my Green Card is due in December. I'll be moving
to Arizona. Well, I say that, I'm not optimistic to be
frank, which incidentally my real father's name.

He was an alcoholic heroin-addict. He was a brickie. He was
about six foot tall, dark featured. apparently I look quite
like him. He still lives in London, and he's clean. If I
wanted to get in contact with him, it would be possible.

My mother married a middle-class Oil Business-man. They
wrenched me out of my working-class London existence and
threw me up to a Hostile Scotland, and tried to force
middle-class values onto me. They beat me, they gave me
lines everyday (don't know if you get them there-like Bart
Simpson at the beginning on the blackboard). I lost my
mother at the same time I lost my father as far as I'm
concerned. I'm an orphan who's parents are still living.

Jesus. I want to send you some crafts or something. That
sounds really rough. Especially coming from a solid
household, though we had problems of our own, we were always
fairly close.
