well, with the latest on my computer and its misadventures,
my stepfather has informed me that he has a copy of Win98,
product number included. So?

Is it a worthy trade-off, or would it make a huge huge huge
huge difference if i shelled out some dough for 2000 or
other? (besides XP cause i dislike it)

98 isn't that bad actually....I prefer XP by a long shot
though. I've heard lots of shit about ME, go for 98

well 98 is basically me without the huge shit-factor..

win2000 is the most stable windows OS. You should get that

Get XP, ideally... but I used 98 for a few years and it
never gave me any major problems. Faulty hardware did THAT
to me.

but would it be THAT MUCH of a difference between 98 and
2000?

and yes i know WinME is shit. Shit shit shit. My soundcard
has become disabled and now my IE is fucked. I'm sure it's
due to my OS crumbling - been using it for almost 2 years
now so I'm hoping an OS change will solve these fucking
problems.

he doesn't like XP

there is a diffrence between 2000 and '98. stability. it
won't crash and give you troubles as much as '98

Perrsonally I'd say go forr XP if you can. Since I have had
it, it has not crrashed once. It basically solves all its
own prroblems. I hated the look of it to begin with but it
grrew on me.

why don`t you just download windows 2000 from kazaa lite?

i don't trust p2p file sharing programs, especially with the
way my comp is running. and anyways, don't you need a
product number?

offline Oddioblender from Fort Worth, TX (United States) on 2003-08-15 10:35 [#00823406]

the process of downloading Kazaa and then an OS like Win2k
would take at least 6 hours.

I downloaded windows 2000 the other day. It comes with the
product number. and it is totally 100% real.

I didn't know you could download OS's....

Where'd you get it + do you have to wipe all your data +
does it involve any of that image file burning
bullshit...'cause I don't have time for that.

well i'll install win98 first to get my system stabilized,
because now i can't even open my recycle bin and the comp
thinks it might be a security risk to explore my own fucking
harddrive.

if the win98 switch works like i hope it will, then i'll
take a gander at 2k.

just download it from kazaa lite. type in windows 2000
professional. Then once download, right click on the file(it
has the serial number aswell) and extract the files to a new
folder. Then burn the contents of that folder(not the folder
itself) onto a CD. then put the CD in and go to Makedisc or
something. Have 4blank floppies to make the startup disks.
Bobs yer auntie! windows 2000. schweet.

You can probably fond XP aswell on there. good luck.

I would go for XP myself. If it was a choice between 98 and
ME then I would say 98 especially if you can get hold of
98SE. If you run a lot of stuff simultaniously then either
2000 or XP is the way to go BUT if it is not a brand new
system you are running MAKE SURE all your hardware is
compatible before you bother installing anything.

If you can't afford XP or don't have a decent amount of ram
(at least 256mb) I'd get win2k. It works the best of any
windows OS I know of. I use xp on only 1 of my machines and
only because my hardware will not work properly with
anything else for some reason. The best feature winXP has
is the ability to make it look like old style windows
instead of that shit fluffy crap...

I have windows XP set on the "silver" color scheme. doesn't
look nearly as gay as the blue one.

resources to.

paste into some photo app, like paint or photoshop.
