Cybotron?

What happened to the original Cybotron? The whole thing is
weird Juan Atkins left and yet the Cybotron name has gone on
with Rik Davis. And he is making music which doesn't appear
to have changed in probably 20 years. Same doom and gloom
feeling of 'Enter' but with just more live instruments.

pretty bloody good record.

erik davis who was half of cybotron still occasionally makes
music as cybotron - it's ok he did an album a few years
ago.
juan atkins has made some killer music - some classic techno
- i think he's changed alot eve though he's a bit of an old
fart now

Oh totally Juan Atkins as Model 500 has done some monster
tracks down the years, absolute monsters pretty hard to
beat. He started to chill his sound and take away the hard
edges come the beginning of the nineties.

The Cybotron website is a really mess. Needs to be sorted
out. Looks totally amateurish.

yeah he's done a few tracks lately that are pretty
techno/electro standard - good, harder but not that exciting
- he got into the whole "techno is jazz" stuff and made some
dodgy tracks

Goddam Dillinja. Cheeky swine taking Cybotron's name. I
think its a bloody cheek. Not that it stands for much these
days but that was a blantant rip off.

astrid-gil-botn,

I think Juan is past his peak. Such a shame because he was
such a serious talent. Really the best telent ever in
detroit. I don't mind some of his softer tracks they had
some nice notes and shit but not a patch on his 80s days no
fn way.

hmm i dunno about the best talent in detroit, kevin
saunderson, derrick may especially and carl craig were
pretty ingenious too - have you got the derrick may
innovator doublle cd - considering it was made on pretty
primitive equipment it's pretty amazing - really soulful and
detailed and funky

Well I've always been a Juan man. For the best detroit
tracks he always been the one who has stuck out the most for
sheer impact. Lets be fair Saunderson and May never made
"Clear" or "Time, Space, Transmat" or "R9" or "Sound Of
Stereo". They rock like nothing that May or Saunderson did.
