ok so most of the users on here are pretty young.........
how much of a priority is moneyin your life? do you know
yet? is it a goal of yours to be rich? do you care?
im talking long run, career stuff

i notice a lot of people want to do more idealistic stuff
when they're younger...... and as they actually go to
university/college, a lot of them end up changing programs
or going into a field they weren't really interested before
because of money

i think thats pretty stupid cus its not like its making you
"RICH".... these people work at somethign they dont like as
mcuh, and dont CARE about as much, so they can make only
marginally more money

....i definitely wouldn't mind being rich, but i never want
to do something i dont enjoy for a living just to get there
but if i can do it with something i enjoy.. hey, that woudl
be nice

so basically money isn't a main goal on its own, but, and i
hate to admit it, its definitely on my mind

money, it's a crime. share it fairly but don't take a slice
of my pie. money, so they say, is the root of all evil
today. but if you ask for a rise it's no surprise that
they're giving none away.

im 20
i've know what i've wanted to do since I was ~ 8.

I narrowed that down to my career path, and am currently
employed in the exact path I want to go down.

Money is in this direction, as having my career job at 20 at
a large corporation is a feat i've worked hard for.

Money is a big priority in my life, but I'm pretty smart
with my money, and dont feel that I need more money than the
next person, to be better than him. I would probably not
work a job I hate even if it pays good, but whatever - I
cannot make that decision now; only when the chance is right
in front of me.

I love my work, my job, and everything about it.

But I defintely do see a lot of people 'aiming' towards a
certain field just because of money.

I'm pretty confident in myself, knownig myself, and what I
really want deep down inside. A shitty job that pays
awesome isn't one of them.

I watch my own friends change majors, this, that, and other
directions as they learn these things. It's hard to pick a
career path when you're young and don't really 'know
yourself.' It's a phase I think everyone goes through, and
just works out a lot better if you discover it a wee bit
sooner than college.

I'm 19, and I still don't know what I want to do as a
"career." I'm with you though, I'd rather have a job I love
and earn like $20k a year than a job I hate and earn $100k.

I don't know yet. I remember being taught bipolarly in high
school that you can A) go to college or B) become a bum.

I had to learn on my own about the possible living situation
of living with a room mate thus being able to survive while
having a nearly minimum wage job. roommates.com is the first
ranked at toptenlinks.com. All I want is a computer, some
books, the internet and some small living quarters. They
even make portable burners so you don't need a kitchen. I'm
still figuring it out. As far as learning for my own
interests, college did little for me. It's end purpose is
employment. I'd rather concentrate on what interests me and
choosing my own books.

literally....

However much you have, you always "need" more. It's a
fallacy as far as i can see, money just gives you comfort,
and comfort is the enemy of creativity.

Mind you, short of theft, i need cash to buy paint and
canvas, but i don't really like gettin caught in the trap of
thinking about money because it tends to take over your
thoughts.

yaknow for someone from Warrington "the self-styled arsehole
of the north", your paintings are surprisingly full of life
and colour! How can this be?

Yeah, having money
doesn't solve money problems;
you just have more to manage.

those who can't

how do you spell... "array"

It depends on how your algorithm works. Perhaps the double r
in the correctly spelled "array" is already converted to
your "r code", ... or... each individual r requires a double
regardless of it's pairing with itself in the original
word...

hehe, we all need some escape, right? actually i don't
really paint from life too often so i try not to let this
shithole influence me too much. and you're probably getting
a slightly false impression, i tend to swing between periods
of really dark inky stuff and brighter stuff as well, it's
just i've got no photos of the darker stuff.

thanks fer noticin tho :)

I don't like the idea that society is based on money. But
that is off topic.

I will however spend my life only doing things I love. I've
been a paperboy but I thought it was kinda fun, and I was
young and needed the cash.

But in the future, when I've graduated, I will spend my time
this life, doing stuff I love - if there is no job for it, I
will find a way to be doing something and earn money from
it.

Life is too short to be spend doing things you don't like,
and if you have spend time thinking about it, you will
realize society as it exists today must be abandoned: cause
you are not free when you have to take jobs you don't like
to "survive".
Fuck it.
Only do things you love, you have no use spending time on
things you don't like. It's just that - a waste of time.

hand to boats, the moneys a lot better but i hate being in a
factory plus the work is very physical, dirty and
exhausting, but if i didnt do it i would have a shit house
in one of the many slums aroud here.
To sum things up im spending my life doing something i dont
enjoy and i dont know what to do about it .

and have a little bit of money to play with on the side.
nothing fancy. and i'm not so sure i need to do
university/college to get that. we'll see, though. things
get silly sometimes.

Ummmm. Methinks one should seriously consider school...
cause otherwise you might end up with some shitty minimum
wage job that doesn't offer enough hours, and end up
squating/couch surfing cause you can't make rent.

I've always figured you're NEVER safe as long as you're
working for someone else - Doesn't matter what job you've
got, you could always be made redundant at 38 or something
and be utterly screwed!
Like they say, you can never get rich working for money, you
have to make money work for you...
I could never work a regular job again, there are too many
other possibilities!
