I know we have had many a book topic but herre is mine. I'm getting a book tomorrrrow, I have a few ideas. I'm looking forr something funny but not silly. I was thinking about The Third Policeman by Flann O'Brien.
If they don't have it I'm not orrderring it, I wonderring if you could suggest something along the same lines in that event.

I managed to get The Third Policeman, and of the books you listed it was the only one they did have oddly.

bill drummond ex-klf is an amzing writer. look for his (sort of) autobiography "45" or another book you might find funnier co-written with mark manning (zodiac mindwarp) called "bad wisdom" which is about a journey they made to the north pole to sacrifice an elvis icon.

Kallocain by Karin Boye But I doubt it's been translated to english, hopefully it has.
It's like "1984" and written at the same time, but with another theme - much more sensual in a way.

one of the funnier books i have read was a collection of short stories by Roald Dahl called Switch Bitch....if you remember The Witches, or The BFG or other marvelous classics fondly, try his more 'adult oriented' literature!

seriously you should get it, i have 'kiss kiss' and 'switch bitch' too, brilliant stories and very enjoyable to read
many people think of his children stories when you mention roald dahl, but this is something else
i'd get them (if i didn't already have'em :) )

Try any of the moomin books by tove jannson. They're not "funny" as such, psychedelic, quite dark sometimes but comforting at the same time. They shit all over the tv cartoons (very) loosely based on them.

Read some Carlos Fuentes.
The Death of Artemio Cruz and The Crystal Frontier are good novels.
