these guys are really talented, i love their sound.

if you have anything bad to say, please just ignore this
thread, i'm tired of seeing that shit...
but anyway,
if you do dig 'em.....what's your favorite album/song of all
time??

mine is Birthmark - Adrenaline

the new album kicks....especially Needles + Pins!

my neighbor was one of the guy's brother - i met them once -
they are pretty good - my friend saw them in toronto on the
summer sanitarium tour and loved em :)

love the deftones.

my fave album is "Around the fur" ... but i haven't picked
up the new one yet.

fave song has to be MX - track 10 on around the fur. i've
got a couple of deftones bootlegs that have a lot of rare
b-sides and rarities. one is a great live cover of weezer's
"say it ain't so." from what i hear, chino moreno worships
pj harvey and rivers cuomo.

they also have some other covers - one of duran duran's "the
chauffeur" and a song called "please please please let me
get what i want." don't know who that's by.

Hell yeah Deftones have been around for a while and have
never failed to have a bad album.

Theres one song where he yells awesome, but I dont know the
name grrr...I cant even find it by looking at the lyrics

I'm talking about the album "deftones" their last one

Around the fur kicks ass! whenever I do hear deftones I feel
like going into a mosh pit and going crazy!

the things i like most about deftones are their overall more
melancholy feel in contrast to the rage most harder rock
acts have. i also love chino's lyrics - they're very
poetic.

afxNUMB - are you speaking of white pony? the best screamer
songs on there are KOREA and ELITE

"anniversary of an uninteresting event"

whatever happened to team sleep?
they have pushed that album back so far

I thought they were talented until the last album came out.
Then I realized chino is gay and untalented and allows
himself to be controlled by the record company.

especially with this newest album it shows, i think their
albums have always gotten progressively worse in general,
but all of the albums have enough really good songs to make
it still worth the purchase..

i think the white pony was their best, i thought the new one
was balls, absolute crap......

but you can't fuck with digital bath, or the single (change
or whatever), OR the last track. or the last track on the
lim. eds. which, by they way, looked cool as hell
(especially when you compare them to...oh, i dunno, the new
album! which, allow me to point out has a skull and roses
on it).

besides white pony. Haven't listened to them since my
nu-metal times though.

yeah, the story's a bit cheesy but I like the costumes. Plus
the fact that Chris and Gary have awesome parts.

you are probably talking about Hexagram....maybe When Girls
Telephone Boys.....??
"AND THE CROWD GOES WILD"!!!!

The Deftones rock, they are a big influence in the music I
make.

Sure, maybe the deftones have sold out a little to the
record companies......but their music is still rockin'
badass, and I'm not really worried about
marketing/videos/whatever in the music business.....it's all
the SOUND....

and Chino is definitely NOT gay (he's married), and he is
VERY talented,
Can you sing that high and go straight into the best scream
in hard rock today??....no

i love Chino's screams, and his mic-cupping techniques, I'm
learning to master them.

Chi Cheng the bass player is so sick as well........he is
writing a "Biography" sort of thing while he's on tour and
stuff.....but he'll never release it.....he's just that
wicked.....

anyway.......yeah!
and this isn't a Fifth Element thread, but it could be!

(maybe I should have split this post up into like 4
replies...)

passenger has james maynard keenan from tool singing.
i like everything alot. cant listen to the last one, so i
dont really know how shite it is. but it sounds like a
watered down white pony and therefor sucks: i liked the way
they were going with white pony, only they should have kept
going. i like no8 of it though, the one that's on the matrix
soundtrack, sounds kinda idm-ish to me

tool and deftones (up to the last one) are the only
metalbands that matter to me. not counting meshuggah.
i play in a metal band myself btw.

Meshuggah are great, been following them for a long time
(Saw them supporting Machine Head in 95) but Tool and
Deftones must be the two most overrated bands in the genre.
Well both of them used to be great but they've just
completely dropped off in recent years, especially Deftones
who've crapped all over the good work they've done in the
past. Tool I think have nothing more to offer, they
obviously peaked with Aenima.

i think white pony was somewhat draft-like, but somehow
genius. i see how around the fur is less then adrenaline,
less 'catchy' songs (the simplicity of the songs of those to
albums make them great).
i dont see why a lot of people think lateralis is that bad:
i like 1, 8, 9, and 10 and 11 (? that india stuff, only the
first too). meshuggah keep getting better at what they do,
they're great.
do you know the special defects album by frederick
thornedahl btw? that's cool too: so death metal-jazz
crossover.

I know what I'm talking about. Just because everyone started
frothing over them went they went all experimental doesn't
mean I have to suck their dicks too. The new stuff blows,
end of story.

i'm not saying it doesn't or that you don't have the right
to your opinion, i'm just observing a standard pattern

Did I get too defensive? :D

Well I'm not sure... it's easy to say that every elite fan
thinks the standard drops with each subsequent release, but
it's hardly something I'd wager money on. I can't think of
another band I've heard every album by where I feel this way
about the releases.... *thinks*... nope. Well, maybe Korn.
And Limp Bizkit. Hmm. Now I see a pattern....

I saw them on the White Pony tour...one helluva show. Every
five minutes someone was getting carted off with a bloody
face, and Chino kept doing backflips into the crowd.

Favorite song: It's a tie between Birthmark or Mascara.
