Aphex is much better pop.
And if you want guitars, Joe Satriani made a little album called Engines of Creation. A nice little electronic experiment by the guy who taught Kirk Hammet everything he knows.

I know I'm generalizing, but just because they're from Europe doesn't mean they're not subject to fads. I'm partially speaking out of ignorance here, I'm not familiar with their history, I just know I don't like em and to me they seem like sorry copycaters of an already-tired indiesnob scene.

i really respect coldplay. they are really more poppish than radiohead, they are like the "good" radiohead. They are pretty talented they put on a pretty nice live show, compared to all the other "shit-rock-pop" bands out there, these guys are a little above the margin, I like their creativity, too......
simple but delightful....

not really comparing just the sounds.....
both singers strikingly resemble each other (well, sort of), ...yes Radiohead is far superior and has many more albums, but they are pretty alike.

coldplay have become quite successful at building upon radioheads career from eight years ago. basically, the statement from thom yorke above sums up where they can go in their current incarnation.
as far as i see it, they're a talented group of musicians that make good pop music that happens to sound a bit like late pablo honey - bends era radiohead.
and don't panic is a great song.

All I have to say about coldplay is listen to the song "A rush of blood to the head." Read the lyrics as well. In fact, they are on tour right now, so go pay 40 bucks to see them sing it live (even if it's only to hear that one song). I think this board is starting to be flooded with those blind lemmings, that are so caught up with what they think is the next "hip" scene, in a come to daddy (hope some will understand the reference) sort of way; that they couldn't hear good music if it....Well I think you get the point. I'm not a Coldplay fan, but I beleve that even if a band only has one, just one, song that adhears to what a human mind can consider worth decoding, the band can't be all that bad. As for the radiohead comment, being a fan of course, I see no "piracy" on behalf of coldplay, which was implied by comments above mine. But who knows I could just be one of those blind lemmings.

yeah... i dont get the radiohead comments... i can understand drawing comparisons from "Parachutes" merely because it has the same beauty to it... "A Rush Of Blood To The Head" is a unique record... amazing.

coldplay is nice. not as interesting as radiohead but nice. as for the gay references a. that's a pretty shallow minded statement and b. I fail to see its relevance with respect to their music. Are gay musicians less talented/worth listening to simply because of their sexual orientation? That's quite sad.
'Nuff said.
