I really like doing them, but they rarely happen in my
life. Oh I don't even drive, I just enjoy riding along
listening to music or talking. Just floating along with
landscapes, soundscapes, and emotions.

anyway.
what nice stories you have to share on the subject? what's
your favourite roadtrip?

I LOVE going on roadtrips... usually to the towns in the
mountains or Edmonton... one time even Vancouver..

last friday night when i was driving the 3 hour journey back
from london my friend wendy was drifting off to sleep - she
woke up with a shot and said "shit man, i'll have to stay
awake for you". 3 minutes later she was asleep - bearing in
mind we were still in london. she woke up just as we were
coming to her road and she was like "fuuuuuuuuuck. what's
going on?" that was pretty funny!

also the week before that, we went out on a roatrip from
reykjavik in iceland to some breathtaking waterfalls,
driving through the mountains, past glaciers and steam
coming out the ground and passing through tiny towns was so
different to in england. that was a damn cool day.

Okay.. why not. When I went to Vancouver with my boyfriend..
after a 16 hour drive (including stops) we went to the
Safeway there... to use the washroom real quick.. and there
was these huge bullfrogs in this tank , all piled on top of
each other, some dead from being suffercated.. and they were
selling them for people to eat.. but they were all dieing
and suffering... there were soo many strange creates in the
seafood section of that Safeway. I wanted to smack the
owners.

my parents came to visit me up in scotland a couple of
weekends ago. we hired a car and drove in to the highlands.
saw some amazing scenery, didnt expect anything like that in
the uk at all. found a couple of real nice spots with clear
streams and waterfalls and mountains, great weekend.

would have some fun stories to share?

i think id like them more, if i didnt have a destination in
mind

roadtrips for me, are always getting to a destination, which
will suck. Like having to move, or visiting relatives. Its
never anything fun.

That was a good story...

Okay well to be honest, most of the road trips i've been on
were drug related. So um... hm.. a good story.. let me
think. What you didn't like the bullfrog story?

ah. that sounds lovely. I like spending time with my folks.
I like just being around them, and we don't talk, or just do
smalltalking. we enjoy the silence, but most of all the
presence.
And then we can discuss great topics... but we rarely do
roadtrips, it was more a thing we used to do when I was
younger (lived at home).

well the frogs were suffering and dying / suffocated.
the thing seems kinda surreal to me, but sure was
reality...
well, you don't want to tell any drugrelated story? I'm sure
it will be interesting reading.

I did a roadtrip with my girlfriend 2 years ago, from madrid
to all the south coast of spain (andalucia) it was great,
even though we were stolen all our clothes, but at the end
we will remember that trip for all our lifes

But see that's the thing, it probably wouldn't cause we were
on drugs and the simplest things were amazing.. so when I
think about it now being sober.. it's not that great.
mauhaha

haha

yea... but the memories are still great... but I doubt i'd
wanna do the same things now cause it wouldn't be the same
being sober.

ah... a memory for life - lovely! :)

and I'm sure eventhough you have good taste, you and your
girlfriend had no need for clothes for what you were up to
anyway ;)

I wish I could be naked more ofthen. feels kinda free +
good.

I don't mind doing things sober/free from drugs.
I can get caught up in all of thoose beautiful moments, and
feel great - it's such a greet feeling cause your mind is
free and you still feel these real strong emotions...
I can just ride along with time and space,
and do that quite ofthen. feels great. comfortable,
relaxing. groove.

I had a funny road trip to Cornwall one summer. Three of us
drove down (from Suffolk, nr London) in this fucked Ford
camper van kinda thing. It cost my mate £50 so you can
probably guess it was pretty "special". In a reasonably
quick car you can do it in 4-5 hrs, it took us 13!! I was
fine as I was chillin in the back getting stoned, my mate
who was driving wasnt so happy though. Had a real good few
days down there driving around. Went to Porthtowan, where i
later found out the photos for Surfing on Sine Waves were
taken. We had a spliff or 3 in the cave where i think the
front cover picture was taken.

Good times.

also; 12345! ... that's some number!...

I've got a hard time thinking women can resist you, nac. But
how is it being a tourist in your own country?
I mean even being robbed - that's kindof a tourist thing ;)

well, what I consider a "memory for life" is a tangible
memory, a memory that's there with you all the time...

Like I can remember some things from when I was real young,
like 5-6 years old, but only when something happends that
makes me think of that.
A memory for life is so tangible, it sortof appears ofthen,
maybe at that very season (which comes every year of
course), so through time: it becomes a part of you. a memory
for life.

so very true.

well, I am from madrid, if I go to another place to know it,
on vacation... I can be considered a tourist.

tourism is not restricted to foreign countries I guess.

as for being robbed:
well in the south of spain its easy if you are not careful
enough... and we werent that time.

I wasn't so clear, but what I meant was like Spain,
especially the part where you went, get lots of foreign
tourists...
I have done a lot of traveling in Sweden. There is lots to
see if one just opens ones eyes, or eyeses.

back to roadtrips:

went to italy for a month in 1996
we had a house rented in rome for the month but we travelled
all around italy during that month by train... it was a
great trip (rome, firenze, venice, napoli, capri, sienna...)

I enjoy walking to.. long distances... you can do that with
music to.
but the difference (comparing to roadtrips) is that you're
laidback on roadtrips (I am never the driver).
you just sit back and enjoy the ride.
things can be really beautiful on roadtrips, and they can be
done just for the ride sometimes.
Most trips are good for some things.

sounds like a great trip! Trains are great.
The pro with car is that you can play music, and trains
aren't that loud.
But trains are more social, and you can see the country from
another view...
and nobody needs to drive, so drugs n alcohol can be all in
your blood - if that's what you feel like.

I remember me and 2 friends went to Göteborg (Gothenburg)
for a rave, and we took the train from Skövde (I think it's
a 2-hour trip)... we did some drinking on the train, and ate
some snacks and fruit. and it was quite nice.
though it was kinda scary, cause this was a private rave
(they wanted to keep the police out) and on the train I
remember that I was not sure what date the rave was, so I
was really unsure of if we had missed it or not!
Luckily we hadn't, and it was quite a nice rave... I passed
out in the bar and some very nice attrictive girl woke me
up, and together with that music I felt like I was in heaven
for a brief moment.
