they are called "talented" and "untalented"... I think they
are great, several drummers; and the singer has a great
voice.
I mean e.g. inflames (of Sweden) has more melodic tracks,
but Slipknot has a very nice feeling to their tracks...
hope they go even more fast/aggressive in the future!

opinions?

they can all carrrry on pissing on each otherrs faces on
stage as farr as i carre. i hope they catch something,
something parrents carre about, unlike disturrbing lyrrics,
then i might not see slipknot jackets ages 9 to 12 anymorre,
and won't have to pay forr theirr ashes afterr i have
burrned them in the shop.

I really don't like them, There are a couple of people in
the band who are talented but imo it's all a charade and i
don't think they'll release another album because the hype
is not really there anymore.

I think their 'people = shit' slogan is kinda ignorant. It
plays into the hands of corporate fucks, by having these
slipknot fans going around wearing this slogan, when they
should be loving people - it's the only way to unite against
the soulless world of Western Capitalism. By segregating
themselves into anti-social cliques, they're helping to
weaken the unity. United, the people won't allow the power
of the Corporate Pimps to be wielded over them !

LOVE IS THE LAW

Untalented. I heard two Slipknot track once and once was
enough. Not that anyone cares what I think.

I like the way they denounce the neo-totalitarism that
caracterize our society.

yes dude. love is the law (it's the biggest and strongest of
all feelings).
but that's not the point.
people = shit is a nice track... kinda slow though.
if you like gabber and any kind of metal you know what I
mean, no reason to take their lyrics for real.
it's just fun and being ignorant for the moment.
not that I consider myself to be a fan of them - I just like
some of their tracks.
I like different types of metal.

I agree with that statement!

It's true because when i walk down the street all i feel is
a deep sense of forboding and isolation, why does it have to
be like that, I think because of people like that and the
media exploiting it.

I'm just talking about that slogan, which I've seen written
on their CD cases, and on their T-shirts.

I like Gabba and certain intense metal - I've heard their
CDs (my little brother has them) - they are OK - nothing
stunning - they came to the limelight for their gimmicky
act, not for their music - so, nothing new there, then.

Personally, I find them as intimidating as a soggy
marshmallow.

I kinda like their tunes. They're definately the best out of
that whole "Nu Metal" scene. They're image and ethics kinda
ruin them tho. It's very easy to pick holes in their
arguments. They rock tho and that is always what is most
important :)

I think the music of Dillinger Escape Plan is superior ! I
would say DEP are the best of the bunch, but I still have to
further ravage Jarworski's music collexion to hear more - he
is my inside connexion to the world of metal.

well I haven't tried to analyze their lyrics... hehe... I
just like some of their tracks... some are even really
melodic ones like "wait and bleed" and "left behind"...
thoose tracks are great.
yeah I like gabber to... anything from dutch mainstyle to
terror... just bring it on as long as it's good (there is of
course a lot of crap gabber).

I've actually petty much given up on music with lyrics
because everythings become so trite, feelings don't seem to
matter to anyone anymore most people seem willing to be told
how to feel these day's, it's sad really.

that is quite true - when I listen to early Cohen, Doors,
Donovan, Lennon et al, and then listen to a lot of modern
stuff - even the supposedly less-mainstream music has really
crap lyrical content - just words put together for the
melody, unfortunately - thank god this isn't pandemic - some
bands/artists still maintain good lyrics, and without
sounding like pretentious wankers !

Mind you i've always had more of attachment to music not
words like certain sounds bring back more than words do but

Weren't Dilliger Escape Plan a punk band from a few years
back???? Haven't heard them but i recognise the name. They
certainly don't get played often where i'm from.

For Metal, ask Yavo.

For lyrics, the ones I mentioned were the first to spring to
mind, so I guess I consider those of the best lyricism in
music.

I'm sure I read that DEP formed from an earlier group -
almost certainly they did - whether it was a punk outfit or
not - I'm not so sure - check their allmusic.com page - that
should contain info on this.

shock tactics obviously, but clearly they do have talent,
but cease to use it...

"left behind" shows a coherence they lack in most of not all
of their other work, tis a shame really.

prefer fear factory.

although they do the softer type of rock.
Of course I also like previous bands like the pixies and

I used to like Slipknot back when I was 13 or 14 but then I
realized that there is much better metal than them and they
really aren't very good (imo).

Great metal albums (for people who would like to know):
Slayer "Reign In Blood" (thrash)
Metallica "Master of Puppets" (thrash)
Immolation "Here In After" (death metal)
Repulsion "Horrified" (grindcore)
Terrorizer "World Downfall" (grindcore)
Mastodon "Remission" (modern heavy death metal with hardcore
influences)
Carcass "Heartwork" (melodic death metal)

...I think I'll stop there.

First time I heard of Slipknot was a feature in Kerrang!
with a pic of them all dressed up and some info about them
(they were recording their self titled at the time)... I was
like, oh fucking spare me look at this shite. Mr Bungle
copyists, all about the marketing. Then I heard a rough demo
of 'Eyeless' and I was like "fuuuuuck!". It's not always a
band's fault when they suddenly become massive and have
thousands of little kids wearing their t-shirts, but it sure
as fuck puts you off them and in this case I think Slipknot
took any integrity they might have garnered by blowing bands
off the stage at Ozzfest and sold it down the river with
their customised lunchboxes.

And 'Iowa' was fucking dreadful.

- Kalibas
- Eighteen Visions
- Dead to Fall

and this list goes on and on and on, never including

Running out of ways to run
I can't see, I can't be
Over and over and under my skin
All this attention is DOING ME IN!

FUCK IT ALL! FUCK THIS WORLD!
FUCK EVERYTHING THAT YOU STAND FOR!
DON'T BELONG! DON'T EXIST!
DON'T GIVE ME A SHIT!
DON'T EVER JUDGE ME!

Picking through the parts exposed
Taking shape, taking shag
Over and over and under my skin
All this momentum is DOING ME IN!

FUCK IT ALL! FUCK THIS WORLD!
FUCK EVERYTHING THAT YOU STAND FOR!
DON'T BELONG! DON'T EXIST!
DON'T GIVE A SHIT!
DON'T EVER JUDGE ME!

You got all my love, livin' in your own hate
Drippin' hole man, hard step, no fate
Show you nuthin', but I ain't holdin' back
Every damn word I say is a sneak attack
When I get my hands on you
Ain't a fuck thing you can do
Get this cuz you're never gonna get me
