The new machine fried my soundcard (I write music so imagine it..), 2 modems including one made by the manufacturers of the board (I'm online all the time so imagine it..), and a floppy drive.
It also cost me for calls across the atlantic so my friend could help, £25 on the first night I switched it on for a useless tech guy cos it wouldn't POST (self test, ie. start up), postage back to the shop for testing plus calls to the shop.
Yes, I'm now back on my old machine with no printer capability (why I needed to upgrade in the first place), and getting my money back for the initial cost, although they are actually going to pick it up at cost to them this time.
Damn, I'm always so unlucky.. just bloody typical :(

Yes...but why did you phone someone in America for help? Didn't you have anyone closer?

Not at 4am in the morning, in fact any time really. It was Canada by the way.

Thanks mate. Yeah not bad, I'm at least happy cos I picked up Swordfishtrombones by Tom Waits and Lumpy Gravy by Zappa in a sale :P
And I'm just glad to be back on my comfy old machine online even if I HAVE now simply got an onboard Soundblaster 16 :/
Still, it's good for some old DOS games I downloaded recently heh.
Not as though I can make music or print CD covers at the mo anyway grr.
But.. how can you live with NO sound at all? Can't you use web mail for emails?
