ok I always thought there were three parts of this
movie...
but I seem to have a special release with all the three
parts just in two tapes...

could somebody tell me the exact moment in which part one
ends?

is there any moment in part one in which there are
flashbacks?

I am confused

1 ends with Michael taking over after his dad dies.

him as a young man... not too sure about pt 3

Thats correct.

1 ends with Mikey taking over the business after the Don's
death and moving to Vegas.

2 is Mikey's story with the Don's life in flashback.

3 is all that is with Andy Garcia.

The trilogy was also re-edited into chronological order for
American television.

FADE FROM BLACK: Int. of Don Corleone's home office -day

BONASERA (seated in front of the Don's desk, facing the
camera)

I believe in America. America has made my fortune. And I
raised my daughter in the

American fashion. I gave her freedom, but -- I taught her
never to dishonor her family. She

found a boyfriend; not an Italian. She went to the movies
with him; she stayed out late. I

didn't protest. Two months ago, he took her for a drive,
with another boyfriend. They made

her drink whiskey. And then they tried to take advantage of
her. She resisted. She kept her

honor. So they beat her, like an animal. When I went to the
hospital, her nose was a'broken.

Her jaw was a'shattered, held together by wire. She couldn't
even weep because of the pain.

But I wept. Why did I weep? She was the light of my life --
beautiful girl. Now she will

never be beautiful again.

[Bonasera breaks down. The Don gestures to Sonny to give
Bonasera a drink]

Sorry...

[Bonasera, taking the drink, sips from the shot glass]

I -- I went to the police, like a good American. These two
boys were brought to trial. The

judge sentenced them to three years in prison -- suspended
sentence. Suspended sentence!

They went free that very day! I stood in the courtroom like
a fool. And those two bastard,

they smiled at me. Then I said to my wife, "for justice, we
must go to Don Corleone."

VITO CORLEONE (sitting behind his desk, petting a cat)

Why did you go to the police? Why didn't you come to me
first?

BONASERA

What do you want of me? Tell me anything. But do what I beg
you to do.

VITO CORLEONE

What is that?

[Bonasera gets up to whisper his request into Don Corleone's
ear]

That I cannot do.

BONASERA

I'll give you anything you ask.

VITO CORLEONE

We've known each other many years, but this is the first
time you came to me for counsel,

for help. I can't remember the last time that you invited me
t

/\ That's the start of pt 1 /\

------------------------------------------------

\/ End of part 1 \/

MICHAEL

Don't ask me about my business...

KAY

No.

MICHAEL (as he slams his hand on the desk)

Enough!

(then)

Alright. This one time [Michael points his finger] -- this
one time I'll let you ask me about

my affairs...

KAY (whispering)

Is it true? -- Is it?

MICHAEL (quietly, shaking his head)

No.

KAY (after a sigh of relief and Michael kisses and hugs her)

I guess we both need a drink, huh?

[Kay leaves the room to fix Michael a drink. At the same
time, Rocco, Clemenza,

and Neri enter the office. Clemenza shakes Michael's hand.
Kay turns her head to watch

them. They embrace Michael, then kiss his hand.]

CLEMENZA (kissing Michael's hand)

Don Corleone...

[Rocco kisses Michael's hand as Neri shuts the door blocking
Kay's view]

The screen blackens to indicate...

THE END

if thats the begining of part 1 then I ve seen another film

what I saw as part one started with the story of vito since
he was a boy and his family was killed and he had to leave
to america, then how vito (de niro) started his business in
new york... killling that man that wanted him to pay him
200$ each month... and then he goes back to sicilia to get
revenge.... and the next thing you see is marlon brandon in
his daughter´s wedding and there is when that man asks him
for justice and all that... (so this scene that you say its
the begining of part 1 is like after an hour and a half in
the film I just saw...

God this IS confusing!

"What're the differences between the Godfather video boxed
sets?

This can get very confusing. Here's the brief of it: The
Godfather Epic [out of print] is the chronological version
of Parts I and II released on video. It has more footage
than the original two films. The Godfather Saga [not
available for purchase] is the TV version of The Epic, but
has much more footage. Most of this extra footage ended up
in The Godfather Trilogy* set [Re-released in 1997], which
is the chronological version of all three films, available
on video. The Trilogy set is the one you should get if you
want the most available footage. It also contains the
Making-Of tape, The Godfather Family: A Look Inside. The
Godfather Collection is simply the three original films in a
box - no added footage, and not in chronological order (but
remastered/widescreen in 1997). The Godfather Collection
(Limited Edition) includes The Godfather Legacy* book and a
card signed by Francis Coppola."

hummmm sounds like you've seen Part 1 to me. The flashbacks
in Part I & II can be confusing, DeNiro is in both movies. i
prefer Part II of all III movies, it's just sooooo solid. i
really need to get the DVD collection, i've seen these
movies so many times, i never get tired of seeing italian
movies!!

CLASSIC FILM!

1. DeNiro is only in Part II
2. They're American movies, not Italian.
