Ok so i posted a piece of software on my site (sorry OS X
only, although i could make a cross platform one for the
idea below) that will automatically generate new dance
genres... its pretty fucking funny.

you will need to download Supercollider Server (the link is
on my site) a rad audio programming language to run the
code.

see the code section at
officerock

MY IDEA...
Ok, I have a fun project if anyone is interested. Right now
it just assembles a genre from a bunch of related words.
What i want to do is for each word, have a set of 4 bar
loops (Drums, Bass, Melodys, Chords etc) so when the words
are combined an example is randomly constucted of that
genre. Its gonna be a bit tricky... i mean what is the
sound of the word "sushi"? But if we can get enough people
working on it it could be really awesome.

Does this sound like something you all would be interested
in? The words are easy to find at the top of the code.

im totally in man :D

i love quirky sample thingys - and would be glad to help
with this project

you are gonna need to set some guidelines for all the
samples though - scales, tempos, ryhtm structures - it cant
just be a freefall of random samples - yknow?

Ok for the key and tempo thing here is a list of keys an
their matching tempos so it can pick the tempo from one of
the loops and easily transpose the rest to that tempo. That
way each world will also have an assoiated tempo.
